Re: Bale done playing Batman
I thought Bale did a decent job, and certainly has the capacity to be a nearly spot-on Batman at any rate. I just have trouble getting past a few of the decisions he and Nolan made about the character. One is the voice; it's a bit overdone and sometimes just too unnatural in delivery. His final lines to The Joker felt totally awkward and artificial, not like a real wounded and exhausted man giving a message of defiance.
My biggest issue is that Bruce is a little too well-adjusted, and that's dangerous. When Tim Burton was faced with a studio expecting Batman to be a tough-guy actor, Burton insisted they were actually better off with a comic actor who could find the intensity and craziness in the character. He maintained that audiences might find unintentional humor in a traditional tough guy actor running around in his long-johns or rubber with a cape, and that a certain level of eccentricity was necessary to pull it off. I like Bale's Batman, but I think he occasionally proves Burton right, lacking a certain credibility of character at times.
Burton's shot composure made a difference too though. Keaton was often lit and shot in such a way that he had an intense energy to him just standing there (really using the shadows of the mask too), while Bale doesn't usually have that benefit.

Re: Bale done playing Batman
To each their own. I have always liked the choice of Bale for Batman. I do think he was better in Begins then in TDK, but again alot of that had to do with the script and that terrible choice to modify his voice. He's definately proven as a great actor with the variety of roles he's played and how well he's done them. I hope he's able to pull off one last great performance in this last film.

Re: Bale done playing Batman
I like Bale but pretty much no actor wants to stay in ant role forever. If Nolan is involved yet in the next film I'm sure he'll find another great actor, who knows maybe even a better one.

I think the issue I have is separating whomever he's playing from the real guy. Which, usually isn't something I have trouble with. I enjoy film, it was my major in college and it's my passion. But, his off set antics have soured me on the actor in any role.
I think a lot of people dont really realize the story behind why he freaked out on set of Salvation. He is an extremely dedicated actor and takes his craft seriously as anyone should. The crew guy on set was messing up a lot and causing a lot of problems, goofing off and Bale just couldnt take it anymore so he got pissed and flipped out on him. Most people in that situation would be pretty upset too. Listen to the full audio of him flipping out and he tells exactly why he is upset at this crew member.
But Bale got a bad rap because he flipped out. But I don't blame him at all especially if this crew member was messing up like he was.
Bale also goes out of his way a lot of times to praise other actors hes worked with and he sounds really genuine when doing so. What he recently said about T.Hardy and Anne H. was pretty remarkable because it didnt sound like the scripted stuff you usually get from actors when praising others. He put a lot of thought behind what he wanted to say about them... Thats why others want to work with him because he is extremely dedicated and loves to do what he does and only take roles he feels are interesting to him. Great actor. One of the best there is right now.

Re: Bale done playing Batman
By off set antics, I think Owlman was talking about the incident with his mom, shortly after the on set freak out.
