Re: Comic Review Thread...

I agree about the reboot, another that I am really liking more than I thought I would is Batman and Robin. It's taking more of a look at Bruce trying to become a father to Damian, and trying to work at undoing Talia's efforts to make him a killer. Alfred's great in it too, with the way he is trying to get Bruce out of Batman mode and into Dad mode.

I would agree. Read Batman 1 and 2 back-to-back and most enjoyed that the World's Greatest Detective is back! The psychotic Bats has been replaced with a mix of Denny O'Neil/Mike Barr's total-in-control Dark Knight. The art is different... Batman is awesomely rendered but Bruce looks a bit.. magna. Overall impressed.

On the one hand I like seeing art by Jock & Francesco Francavilla or artists inspired by them. They are now working for Marvel and DC on virtualy every title.

On the other hand, It's getting hard to tell
the difference between comics as they're drawn in such similar styles. Batman,Green Hornet and Marvel's Black Panther look the same for December along with Detective Comics #781 and #782. I'm enjoying the stories though

I just purchased Batman Noel. I have yet to read it, but the artwork is amazing! I will put up a review when I am done.

Picked up a copy of "Catwoman Guardian of Gotham." It was an interesting take to say the least. As I was reading I was thinking what a cool costume it would be to replicate.

Catwoman #2 as well...I know a few of you aren't fans of the reboot, but I have to say I love these two in particular. Re-read them both a few times over. If you haven't done so, I highly recommend you go out and get them.

Yes i agree, most of the Batman related DC 52's have been really great. I like almost all of them especially Batman, The Dark Knight, Catwoman, Batwoman and Batgirl. I think all of them have been fantastic. The one ive been disappointed in so far is Superman. and I love the story of Wonder Woman, but not a huge fan of the art from WW so far. Dont really like any of the Justice Leagues yet. When they bring a lot of the characters together, I just dont like it as much. I like reading stories when they are in their own worlds. My sleeper favorites are All Star Western and Huntress.

Oh The Huntress is one you need to pick up, I'm loving that one. I've loved all of them except for The Dark Knight, and LOVE JL.

I got Batman Noel for Christmas, and I have to say, I absolutely love it! Bermejo's art style is amazing, Noir yet modern, slick yet very richly detailed. His story is also top notch. Ciardo's coloring gives Bermejo's art work a beautiful feel, especially in Superman's case. Definitely one of the best stories DC has put out in a while and a must read.

I agree Chris...loved the story, and especially the art! What incredible detail, and the coloring is quite beautiful. A fantastic take on a classic story. Just loved it.

Re: Comic Review Thread...

My opinion on the NEW 52:

I'm loving all the Bat books minus "Batwoman" and "Batgirl." It's not that I dislike these 2 books, I just haven't taken to them as well as the others.

I especially like Batman, Batman & Robin, Detective Comics, and The Dark Knight. I am really loving the new villians introduced in each of these books (Talon, NoBody, Dollmaker, and The White Rabbit respectivley). They seem to either have very intriguing backstories, are very violent and gritty, seem to have alot of depth to them, and/or they are just different from past villians we have seen. For me, the villians make a Batman story, and I think this is why I am enjoying each of these books.

I am undecided. on "Superman." I am not disliking it, but not loving it either.

I am disappointed with Action Comics, but am hopeful it will improve when they make the jump from Superman's origins to the current comic timeline.

I am enjoying "Justice League," but also think it will drastically improve when they jump from the team's origins to the current comic timeline.

I really like "Teen Titans" and "Nightwing." I enjoy TT because of the plotline with NOWHERE and the Superboy origin story. I am enjoying NW for the same reason I enjoy the Batman books, I think the villian is intriguing and I like the fact that they have taken Grayson back to his origin at Haly's Circus.

Probably my favorite book of the whole lot, minus the 4 Bat books I mentioned earlier, is "Batwing." I am just really enjoying this book. It's pretty gritty, has a terrific villian, and I like the plot line.
