Jimithy I do agree with you to an extent but we have to look at it like this... these guys take the work on to make us happy. Allot of us guys want suits made in unreasonable time limit and we go to the best guys to get the best product. Deadlines always get pushed back and we all know this so do we really need to post pointless threads bagging the guy that is doing your work for you... no... understand there is a problem and deal with it.. if we all posted threads on how long our suits went over the deadline this forum would be full of it.. I understand that he is angry about this as we've all been there but in my opinion deal with it in another way mate

What it comes down to, if you're going to run your hobby as a business, you have to treat it as such.

As a working artist myself, there is no reason to take on more work than you can feasibly do.

As a musician, if I show up to gigs when I want, I don't get paid. It's how it is.

As an artist, if I don't accomplish the work I am commissioned for in a timely manner, the person who had the work commissioned has every reason to be upset and could very well ask for any deposits back.

If I don't turn in my reports on time at work, I get reprimanded and possibly fired.

What it comes down to is the artist creates the deadlines based on his knowledge of what can be accomplished with everything else going on in the artists life. So in that respect, it is up to the artist to make sure deadlines are met. Sure, there are things that come up, family emergencies and so on, and most people can understand that. But if it's a constant change in deadlines, that is unacceptable.

Granted, I don't know the details of either side, this is just my opinion on how "business" should be handled.

WOW, haven't been to the BOTB in a while and I see this. Not happy. I've purchased 2 whole batsuits from Kris plus various other parts. Including the TDK suit. Kris is a standup guy. Known him since 2007. Things have happened and there have been delays at times but he always pulls through. He's a one man machine operating out of his house, not running a sweatshop factory. Even though I'm sure he sometimes works sweatshop hours to get this stuff done. We try our hardest but sometimes $hit happens. If you want to deal with some real DB traders I can give you a list but Kris is FAR from it. I'll stand behind is word and his work anyday!

Re: http://www.hellskitchencc.com/ my experiences

I understood before I posted this that I may be ostracized, however how can I teach my kids right and wrong if I can't stand up for it myself?

This is what I expect from ANY transaction:

A deal is struck covering:
- payment (how much & when)
- what (as in service/product)
- when I will receive it

Now if any of these are broken then I have the right to have a grievance. In this case the deal was stuck for:
- full payment to secure the costume
- a TDK costume
- a completion of January/February

January/February slipped to April which I could deal with (this was stated in my sale/trade thread). But this weekend I find it's not even started yet.......& won't be until god knows........& for those of you know me I need to recoup the money paid for this - he won't refund me & how can I sell something I don't have?

I asked for a refund in March - nope - he's spent my money - without even starting my suit.

All of this with no apology just with the same old attitude of "you can't blame me!! I'm brilliant - everyone says so!"

Don't go into a deal unless you can fulfill it.
Don't spend anothers' money before you have earned it.
If things do slip then apologise & keep in communication.
If you cannot keep it beyond reasonable parameters then the deal should be reversed

This is basic courtesy & is the basis of my grievance

Re: http://www.hellskitchencc.com/ my experiences

Well in rereading this thread over I think both parties have issues. One thing is true, if he stated it would be done by Feb then it should have been done by Feb but if he was having issues then he should have contacted the buyer and told him so. If the buyer at that point wanted to back out he should of been offered a refund. I don't understand the practice of spending the money with out even buying the supplies to start the project either. Having said that, the buyer could try, being a little more patient about getting the goods from the seller and not slander him out right. Also I don't agree with you trying to sell off your problem onto somebody else, to me , I understand being broke and desperate, but I wouldn't "screw" somebody else almost exactly the way you are getting it from the seller, your just passing it on to some other guy. I was glad to see you put a hold on your trade here. Unfortunately, anybody who may pick up the trade here on the board may get a less then perfect suit based on your flame war with the seller. I think you 2 need to come to an understanding, I am sure with a little patience and talking the two of you can work it out. Now for the sad part, tell your children, things don't always turn out the way you want them too. You do what you can to justify a situation without turning into what your fighting. It doesn't always work out, life is not perfect.

Agreed. But also, don't try to get someone else to assume the risk for you. I can understand needing to get out of the deal, but trying to trade away something you don't have--and apparently may not have for a long time, if ever--is unprofessional. Teach your kids that sometimes people get burned. You accept it and move on, hopefully the wiser for it. You don't slide out from under the loss by finding some sucker to buy your way out of the jam.

With regard to the above two posts. I was not trying to trade away my mess.

I have the need to free up some cash I - I sold many items. This is just one I have had for trade.

I did not & will not hand my problems over to another. It was made clear in the thread that the goods would be available at the end of April is this was guarenteed by Kris (see dialogue we had).

I posted this in all sale/trade threads I've had up. I've told people to talk to Kris about availability & postage so he could confirm any questions.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when I found I have been advertising these sale/trade threads with false information.....Kris's information.

He susbsequently went working away in April & did not even start the suit. He told me on Saturday he would be working away for a further 8-10 weeks (see conversation I referred to in 2nd post)......thus no suit started.

Since this came to light I have put this suit on hold on all forums I had it advertised on until the matter is resolved as I have no idea when it will be ready.

I was also offering this suit at a trade WAY below what I bought it for.

Finally I have no reason to believe that that the suit would be sub-standard due to my grievance - do you?

I personally think now as i have red this through should be left as it is, too many people are getting personal about this, Grantd has only expressed a feeling of concern an thus so reading first post was very careful in wording, i understand kris has close friends on here but as a professional matter he is in the wrong, but i dont want to get into politics on this i think opinions left out now.

we supposed to be united not divided this post doesn't divide, just highlights a potential worry.

Very well put! Plus way too much talk of money.

Thanks for support & sense.

I too recognise that Kris has many friends here and it will be their natural behaviour to lynch me for publicly airing my grievance against him.

However with regards to the previous two - never EVER EVER reference how I should educate my kids. What you said has me trembling with anger.
