My 1989 Batman suit. (updates)

24 years after, my dream is becoming true. I've tested for the first time my armor and cowl. I'll make a test with the gloves, the cape and the emblem later but now I have almost completed one of my favourite version of the Batsuit.

The 89 suit was so innovative and fresh and proof of that is the love still held for it all these years on!!
Who made the armour?
Personally I would be tempted to seperate the cod and thighs a little to allow movement. I am not saying completely detach them from each other just add a slit in each side.

I hope that makes sense :confused

Hey Bro,

Nice suit! I love it, is it from Hells Kitchen? I agree with 89Batman, I'd cut the crotch on both sides a bit before you attach it to the bodysuit, you'll be glad you did ;) I'm a HUGE '89 fan since the movie came out in '89, it'll always be my favorite! CONGRATSULATIONS BRO!

'LOVE the '89 cowl.

If you want your eyes a bit more centered in the eye holes you could wear a black balaclava under the cowl after placing a clean sock or two on top of your head, under the balaclava.

That's what I do to get the cowl a bit higher on my head.

C O N G R A T S ! :up :up
BLESS all Bats who keep the '89 torch burnin'

Thanks !!
Making this suit is a dream I wanted to fulfill. In France, it was not possible to find parts so I've began to search wolrdwide and I have finally found all the parts for making the full suit.
I've bought the suit from Superhero Concepts in Australia a few months ago and I have invested in a mannequin for gluing the parts together.

Re: 1989 Batman suit

It looks like a copy of the actual production made 89 cowl Paul Wares restored and pulled.

Hey congrats on your first high quality 89 bat suit!!! I'll never forget the magic I felt when I landed my first suit.

I'm now working on my new build for this Halloween and many thanks to Lary for helping me with a new cowl.

To add to the helpful tips shared, try adding a strip of some type of soft black fabric, foam, whatever you can find and test it out underneath your jaw in between the rubber(shaped like a happy smile from cheek to cheek). What this will do is create more filler around your bottom half of your face so that the sides sit nicely on the sides of your face rather than show gaps. Don't add too much fluff on top of your head or you will look like you have a big forehead. You want the top part of the eye holes to sit right over your eyes and not dead center. If you need to, maybe a small folded soft cloth on top of your head, but nothing too thick. :wink

Once you decide to mount the entire thing, make sure you have your cowl on first and slip on the body armor with the emblem in place so you can get the best look possible. Many times, I've seen my fellow bat brothers mount their armor too low or too high. Higher is better than lower though. If you go too low, it will look like you have man boobs, lol, or show a strange gap between the chest and emblem.

Michael Keaton's armor (the abs specifically) actually sits a little higher than his real abs to create an illusion of a taller Batman. His belt doesn't sit on his waist but more so just above it. You'll notice this effect works great if you're a shorter person.....like myself. lol.

Take your time, test things out before finalizing it. Always nice to have a friend come and help too. Especially when mounting. If you're going solo, you may need some kind of non permanent marking tool so you can draw out the distance between your cowl and chest armor.

This is fun stuff. =] Good luck with it all buddy!
