Re: Does anyone here have a studio scale 89 batmobile or Batwing?

There's currently a remote control batmobile on eBay. Kinda cool. There's also some awesome diecast 1/18 scale ones, including a Batmobile from Hush, there's a "Battle-Damaged" '89 die-cast Batmobile, and an ordinary diecast undamaged batmobile. They look awesome. I'd provide links to one of each, but I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to post them here or in the ebay section, since theyre not exactly costume related... :p But theyre awesome.

Where did you get that studio scale model? That's awesome... if only I could get my grubby mitts on one... emoticon

The '89 ones mentioned are different versions of the Mattel 1:18 die-casts. :wink These are the best ever made.

I got the big one from some dude in England who knew someone who had access to the real one. I don't know the details, but it's been pretty much comfirmed it's from the real thing. I don't doubt it since it's the most accurate one I've ever seen....with some serious work of course. I knew as soon as I saw it up close.
It was really rough and raw when I got it,pulled right out of the mold. It's a fibreglass body, under carriage, canopy and cockpit and the rest are resin pieces...wheels,seats,etc. I spent about 4 hours cutting and trimming away all the excess 'flash' and ended up with a small stack of pieces and a pile of fibreglass dust about 18" round and over a foot high.
This is the result of weeks of work and it's only 70% done at best...and that was a few years ago. :lol One day. I had Batsuit fever for a while.

I've got a buddy that lives about an hour away that I help out in his studio from time to time....he's got a mold for the studio version of the Batwing.....man, this thing is HUGE....like as in 2 feet accross!!
Hopefully in the near future I'll be pouring a copy up for myself.

I've got one of those studio scale Batwings....freaking awesome!!!!

Havent built it yet....still in kit form.
I plan on taking a month off soon and not only finishing the batwing but also setting up all my pieces on displays, lifecasts and have it all properly lit......all in the comfort of my own home....:)

Ok David. You know the rules around here. When you're finished with that Batwing, make with the pics. He he. - Jason M
