Superman Returns...What's Next???

Superman's back in a big way in a truly original story that still pays homage to the classic version we grew up with

Batman has been reborn for a new generation with a director that actually understands the Dark Knight's world

Post what DCU movies you'd like to see next. Sequels to Begins and Returns don't count, but you can include Vertigo or Wildstorm comics.

I'll start:

I REALLY want to see a well-done version of the Flash, written by David Goyer and starring Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder, Blade 3) as Wally West. It would focus on the modern Flash without ignoring the rich history of the character like the cartoon did. Having a movie where the main hero is an ex-sidekick to a deceased mentor, who is treated like the captain of a high school football team in his town rather than a superhero, is a great contrast to Batman's dark mysticism and Superman's larger-than-life heroics.

I want to see "The Green Lantern" as a story that would focus on Hal Jordon. and then , in the sequal some other Lantern Cameos and by the third film we see the entire GL Corp in a cosmic battle or something and then maybe pass it off to Kyle Rayner at the end.

I too like darkknightPGH would like to see The Flash on the big screen. With todays special FX and CGI, The Flash would look super cool running at high speed, chasing the bad guys.

They're working on Wonder Woman. I think the Flash is discused too
.
the Ghost Rider is coming rather soon but that's marvel (right?)

I'd love to see crossovers in movies now that franchises are reborn at the same time :)

amen to the Green Lantern idea TimDrakeRobin

If it was done just right, DC / Warner Brothers would have a space epic action / adventure movie franchise that could rival star wars.

here's another one for yinz guys to ponder:

Captain Marvel / The Power of SHAZAM. Done in a family-friendly style similar to Disney's 1994 Rocketeer movie. Very innocent and lighthearted but not insulting the intelligence of parent or child. Maybe get Jerry O'Connell to play the big red cheese. He did the voicework for Cap in the JLU episode "Clash" and he was very very good playing the brave but naive superhero.

I'll second that for a Captain Marvel movie. Also, they should make an Animal Man movie. Because I say so. I don't care how obscure he is. Somebody out there get on that.

birds of prey...co written by gail simone and joss whedon...directed by whedon (no one gets the characters better than simone and no one in hollywood does female heroes better than whedon)...i'd go with the pre-OYL team...laura prepon as oracle...poppy montgomery as black canary...amy acker as huntress...skott

Why care? It's a DC movie which means WB is going to pooch-screw it anyway and it's going to be anything like the characters ala batman begins and superman returns. But if you're a HUGE DC fan and don't read the stories that have kept these iconic characters alive for close to 70 years I guess it doesn't matter how they're portrayed as long as they have a movie that captures their true essence in 2 hours and some change. Right.

I want to see Batman done right, The chris reeve superman movies erased from history and everyone start over. That's what I want. Screw David Goyer. He doesn't know if he's scratching his watch or winding his ass;) (yes, i spelled that like i meant to).

flash dixon i have a question.
I used to watch a TV series as a kid in France called "l'homme animal" (translates as Animal Man but i don't know if it's related)

It was this guy who put his hand in various positions and could transform into a hawk or a panther.
I use to love that show.
so is it animal man or not at all?

Re: Superman Returns...What's Next???

How could Batman be done any more right than Batman Begins?

It had the gritty realism of Batman: Year One, including an almost verbatim recreation of the bat-swarm scene.

It had the operatic drama of The Long Halloween

It had the international adventure and mysticism of Bruce's youth and his adventures abroad clashing with Ra's Al Ghoul.

And it featured villains that looked and felt like legitimate criminals, not over-the-top harmless clowns and thugs from the Schumacher films.

They even included things that the comics/cartoons/etc. never really covered.

Like how Bruce was able to sneak all that amazing equipment and technology out of the office and into his house? (Lucius Fox and the R&D department of mothballed projects)

And how was a massive cave formed under the mansion (the waterfall in Begins - kinda hard to have a huge cave without a water source)

If there was anything I could change about Batman Begins, it would be just very little things:

1. The Waynes' murder happens as they leave the movie "Mark of Zorro" instead of the Opera

2. Carmine Falcone portrayed more like the Godfather, a more smooth and sophisticated version like in Long Halloween.

3. Include a very brief scene of Alfred tending to bruce's wounds, and maybe hint at his past as a medic in the british army in his youth

4. replace the microwave emitter with a more realistic delivery system for Scarecrow's fear gas.
