Hey monkeybat, Brin does have a fitness page over on the ]League of Heroes board. I'm sure they'd be happy to have you join in there. I don't know if there's enough demand here to have a forum devoted to fitness, although you guys are certainly welcome to post threads about it to keep up with each other. If you do, you may want to keep them in off-topic, so they don't get lost in the main forum.

I think it's great you are trying to stay in shape, I can't seem to find the motivation most of the time. :frown

I'm with the nocturnal primate on this one emoticon. It doesn't look as though the LOH has alot of posts on the subject even though it might motivate them on dieting and excercising more frequently to an extent. Unless someone is here to spot me on my bench or tells me to put down that half gallon of ice cream I won't see an improvement in my batwaistline.

On the contrary. The LOH highest posted in thread is a hero health thread. Yes it would be good if we could all have a babysitter (pardon the expression no disrespect intended) to slap that ice cream away. But the fact is we don't. We, like the BAT, must be self reliant. Having a support thread is helpfull to some.

However since it's already on the LOH I really don't see a need for one here. Just shoot over there. We are glad to help anyone who wants to have the body of a Hero and not just dress like one.

Superpower, no disrespect taken and no disrespect intended on my end either. I just didn’t see many recent posts other than the Juggernaut Challenge, which seems to have worked well for all the LOH participants:up . As for a babysitter, I am my own babysitter. I have a complete rubber floored home gym with 2000 pounds of weights, Leg press/hack squat, heavy bag, ]Batca multicenter
, a LifeFitness treadmill, Stairmaster, and elliptical machine and I spend over ten hours a week in my gym and have without fail for years. The only thing that sucks is I hate cardio and plateau on my bench cause I don't have a spotter.

I feel your pain on the cardio. I need a baby sitter for that one myself.

Yeah the challenge does seam to be the only real thing with posts. But it's something rite? And yeah I know the results are quite lackluster, but hopfully the turnout will be better in the future.

Your gym sounds nice. I wish you would have joined us, if for nothing else than the comrodary. I do feel though that clearly outlining goals with people (even if its on a pc screen) there to check on progress does help some.

As for other posts, besides the challenge, well there is only so much one can say about training. But the day that I like the motivation to hit the gym I hope I can post about it and have people encourage me. I think that is what the Hero Health section is about. Encouragment. Not about how many posts there are but what the existing post can do for someone else.

Train to live, live to train

Actually, I think the results have been impressive and think the Challenge motivated the participants to go beyond their previous routine or to even develop a more effective one by the looks of it.

I would love to see a thread to keep me motivated... I was doing good there for a while going 3 or even 4 days a week for about 2 hours at a time for about 4 months, but then about a month ago, lost it the rhythm I had going. I need to get back into it.

Arnold is REALLY OUT OF SHAPE now his politics to worry about he has let the Politics get the best of him & he is not in shape anymore at all...

Are you sure that pic is recent? IIRC, he looked like that after heart surgery or whatever before T3.

My opinion on a Fitness Section is [sign in to see URL] are other boards out there that do it better. [sign in to see URL] or [sign in to see URL] spring to mind. FT has a workout program you can design for whatever you want. There's message boards for help and/or support and/or questions. I don't really see the need for one here.

Going to the gym should become part of your daily routine, i go at 6am before work 4 mornings a week for around 2 hours, still motivated, never missed a workout in over a year,

and yes that is a old arnold pic before T3.

arnie is still my hero of the bodybuilding world, for his age he is still in great shape

Thanks to this thread I have gone back to the gym this week & I'm back on my reguler schedule!
It's cool that Arnold was able to get himself back into shape for T3. Found that pic on the net a while back
Sad, Sense I posted that picture my wife showed me a new beach pic of him on the cover of some Paparazi Magazine this month... it's a 2006 best & worst celebrity beach bodies issue...
Seems that after T3 he has let himself get out of shape again. Wish he would get himself back into shape again... His arms are still kind of big but the rest has lost shape... With what he knows about bodybuilding, I Bet he can get himself back into shape in a matter of just a few months if we wants to. maybe he is just taking a break...

It's called Muscle Memory, if the term is correct. Ah-nuld could get back into shape quickly for a film if he wanted. Where as someone like myself can never attain the look he has. Or used to have, I should say. I'm pretty close to that pic now! :lol

Look guys and Gal thanks for the interest. All i was saying i spend my time on the internet floating between here and e-bay and i would like to help any of my fellow Bat buddys with Training. Im a qualified Personal Trainer and have been in better shape than i am now but thats another story. I have been training for over 10 years haveing started at 21 years of age. I have seen it all Atkins, STEROIDS, Diet drugs you name it i have used it or now someone that has. Training ideas filling suit cases up with rocks for weights. Pulling cars on a Sunday moring to work legs. Filling large petrol cans up and walking them round the block for shoulders traps legs etc. These are old time strong man techniques and they work. This is why i started this thread and would be happy to help most trainers and have the know how and the books if its not in my head. Thanks for joining in. :cookoo

Is there some way we can poll this?

I know there are more "professional" sites that offer specific help and advice, but they are not PERSONAL. We here - we care for eachother and want to motivate eachother toward a similar goal.

It just doesnt work the same if we have some cyber-trainer to tell us to get off our bat-bums and quit eating Doritos (restricted copyright trademark). :dancing

Count me in, I would love a fitness section!
if not we can start a thread about it & have it stuck to the top of the off topic section so we can have an ongoing conversation about fitness.

Anyone use Muscle Milk? It's good stuff lots of flavors.

I use milk/egg protein through the day for that slow release. Whey protein for the ready steady go stuff straight after a workout and first thing in the morning. You can make your own or be lazy and buy pro-lab or a less well known brand. Just read what your drinking first, allways read the label. :doh

I am currently using ON 100% Whey.

But a major thing to note. Just because the label says Whey protein does not mean there isn't OTHER types of Protein like Casein, etc. in there. All protein is good protein!

sounds like a good idea...

I was the fat kid growing up until I was 15, and started running a mile every morning.
Was in Marine Corps Junior ROTC and impressed my instructors to make me a 1st Lieutenant by the time I got out since my Knowledge & leaderships skills were now rounded out with a healthy physique.

for my 17th birthday got one of the greatest B-day gifts ever... a Weight set... That fall I came back for my senior year totally Stacked... with (As my friend tyler calls it) the superhero chest...

since then kept in shape, although myfirst year in college kinda slowed me down... Didn't keep up w/ my workouts much after my halloween as the Punisher... But I'm back on the horse again
Cardio in the morning and strenth training in the afternoon.
Breakfast is a Fruits & Whey Protein shake... with an egg tossed in

the rest of the day is high protein & high fiber, plenty of water, and another egg after strength training...

despite being only 5'8", most of my friends would describe me as a "Big" guy...
which for my costuming purposes, works out fine... :toocool

See what i mean, i love hearing storys like that it inspires me to bust my but in the gym. A fitness page would be a great motivating tool. strength is a mind and body thing, as someone once said "hes trained his body and mind to combat crime". And being 100 kg of Muscle cant hurt can it. Evil people prey on the weak, so im just tipping the odds in my favour. So make a space and put fitness in here too. Lets have some lycra Dead End suits and look as good as Clark Bantrum.

I'm interested in getting into a fabric/Comic style suit, but need to get back into shape so I don't look like Love Handle Man instead.

Getting rid of all the years of buttered bread, porterhouse steak, chocolate cake, Eggs Benedict, etc, is rather difficult to do when you've got three kids, a private business, and a wife to keep happy on a daily basis.

We've got a ten year old Soloflex rubber band system and a brand new Bowflex Treadclimber. All I need is time. emoticon

Do you guys know anything about the caffiene free Hydroxycut? I've been taking them lately to boost my metabolism, but they don't give me the caffiene boost to do any more than I ususally do during the day. I was on the old Stacker 2's a few years back and they seemed to work great, to give me the energy I needed to keep busy and get out on the bike. But, that was while I was still fighting for custody of my daughter and didn't have the wife and two other kids that are here today.

I didn't want to fill myself up with fake energy like the Stackers do, so I tried the caffiene free Hydroxycuts to try and kick start my own body's fat burning ability. They really don't seem to be doing sh*t. But then, I'm only really spending about two 1-hour sessions a week on the Soloflex. My right knee sucks and running is just out of the question. I had an ACL repair done back in '91 and have since tore it again about three years ago in Typhoon Lagoon in Disney World. emoticon

I dunno'... Finding the time is pretty difficult, when you have other people depending on you for things.
