Spider-Man looks to have been manipulated and duped by Stark, something which should have lasting repercussions on his life long after the dust of this has settled. I don't read Fantastic Four, but Reed Richards is showing that he has far more understanding of and concern for intellectual and academic pursuits than people. Stark really seems to be out for himself, and as always doesn't seem too concerned with how his actions impact others, beyond paying them lip service.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Theopolis)Mon, 31 Jul 2006 09:00:18 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740585,from=rss#post1740585https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740585,from=rss#post1740585Ha Ha Ha Ha, love it.. :rollin Seriously, wish I'd thought that up I grabbed Civil War # 3 (purely for completism) and after the events of # 2 (in particular the last 2 pages where Spidey / Pete enters 'therapy' ha ha ha) it's the biggest waste of space I've read in years, in fact it even edges out the dross :whack that is currently clogging up the pages of Nightwing.. Not 100% sure but if it doesn't improve I think that when the series (Civil War) ends I'm gonna stick a complete set of 1st prints on eBay unless anyone on here wants 'em.. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Babsgordonsboytoy)Sat, 29 Jul 2006 10:55:45 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740584,from=rss#post1740584https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740584,from=rss#post1740584i completely overlooked Kingdom Come, shame on me cuz that book is a must-have / must-read. was the registration / selling-out in Kingdom Come the part with Luthor's evil group? or was it Superman's ultimatum to the young "whipper snappers" that were ruining the superhero image? i'm sorry if i spoiled anything, but seriously if you haven't read kingdom come by now, SHAME ON YOU! the most rediculous part of Spider-Man's reveal is he makes it sound like he's at an addiction therapy group, like Superheroes Anonymous or something. The current version is more to do with everyones civil liberties. Spidey has come out on the Government side whereas Cap has decided that it is an abuse of his freedom. The paralel with real life is spot on and I hope that it kicks everyone into action against what is happening right now here in the real world. The FBI/CIA etc. is reading MY posts and MY Emails to protect ME from terrorism. I'm not even American so why should they be allowed to this. It is an abuse of my freedom. So you know where this story should be? In a Captain America book. Not a said attempt to make some big story in the Marvel universe. If Captain America is the only reason this story is interesting what about those of us who find The Cap incredibly boring? (Me, for example) Guess that's one more reason I see not to pick this up. Also, you couldn't be more right, "New Frontier" is an amazing read, especially for fans of Golden and Silver Age comics. And to add one more 'superhero registration' book to the list: Alex Ross' "Kindgdom Come" (just remember right now when I was reading through your list) I wonder how many we can come up with?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Terry McGinnis)Fri, 23 Jun 2006 13:16:53 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740581,from=rss#post1740581https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740581,from=rss#post1740581yeah and technically can't he be brought quickly for a pit stop and be all good again?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Drakul)Fri, 23 Jun 2006 10:52:16 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740580,from=rss#post1740580https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740580,from=rss#post1740580Superhero registration is way over played. I think I've seen the concept in: -Watchmen -X-Men -graphic novel "Golden Age" -the opening act of Darwyn Cooke's "New Frontier" (GREAT BOOK, read it!) -Son of Superman There's tons more out there I can't even think of. What makes Marvel's Civil War sellable isn't the registration argument, it's the fact that Captain America, the poster boy for patriotism himself, is against it and won't cooperate. and as for the Batman love interest thing, instead of having one love interest learn his secret and then leave in every movie, I'd rather see Bruce date 2 or 3 girls consistently from film to film, none of them knowing his secret at all. Girls like Veronica Vreeland, Julie Madison, and Selina Kyle of course. and talia could always come back in a sequel, with or without her father. after all, we didn't see a corpse after the train wreck, and he made a brief speceh implying he might be immortal, so he could very well come back with Talia at his side.nondisclosed_email@example.com (darkknightPGH)Fri, 23 Jun 2006 10:13:44 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740579,from=rss#post1740579https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740579,from=rss#post1740579the real question is how the hell could you miss this the first time? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Drakul)Thu, 22 Jun 2006 10:13:29 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740578,from=rss#post1740578https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740578,from=rss#post1740578LOL! You know, the way she only smiles out of half her mouth and it looks like her face is sliding down her head. It's really hard to watch that final scene with her in Begins, because it's all I can focus on. Catwoman is a very appropriate love interest for Batman, as is Talia. I was disappointed that Begins didn't include her since Ra's Al Ghul was the villain. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Theopolis)Wed, 21 Jun 2006 14:51:13 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740574,from=rss#post1740574https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740574,from=rss#post1740574Quote:reddkryten wrote: Didn't superhero registration happen in Watchmen also? I like the Civil War storyline, because it creates a moral dilemma for each character in the Marvel Universe. I'm not sure how I feel about Spidey going public, but I'm glad to see them taking chances with the character rather than letting him rot in limbo like most comic book heroes. Obviously there will be a backlash from Spider-Man's enemies, but I'm mostly interested to see how his supporting cast reacts, like J. Jonah Jameson, Joe Robertson, Betty Brant and Flash Thompson, Doc Connors and his family, not to mention the law. Should make for some interesting stories for the next couple of years at least. I hope they keep the change instead of explaining it all away as super-hypnotism or something.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Theopolis)Mon, 19 Jun 2006 14:43:42 +0000 Re: Spiderman Reveals His Identityhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740567,from=rss#post1740567https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1740567,from=rss#post1740567I'm not a big MARVEL fan (except for Ultimate Spidey and the Ultimates V2) but if they keep giving former high-selling titles to people like Bruce Jones (NIGHTWING) I'm not gonna be a big DC fan either however I grabbed CIVIL WAR #1 and 2 after an article in the Papers here in the UK. Marvel is just trying to come back with their "major shake up series" but I don't think it is anywhere near IC. And the reason why the story is so boring to me is that the superhero registry thing has been done before. In both DC and Marvel. Marvel has toyed with it many times over the years and it's even a big part of the X-Men films. Saw it coming when they announced they were doing Civil War (Marvel's sad attempt to keep up with DC's Infinite Crisis) and during the arc a hero would reveal their identity to the public. It was obviously going to be Spiderman, he has the least to lose and is one of the few Marvel character's worth a damn to begin with. What makes it even LESS interesting is this isn't the first major hero they have revealed the identity to the public. They did that to Daredevil over a year ago. That's Marvel for you.
