Re: I've seen Superman Returns

well, i finally went to see it today with the family. I went in with low expectations, and im glad i did, because i was not impressed. I thought the story was lame, we've seen it. I thought it had too little of the title character, as all DC/WB movies do. I agree 100% with the people who have said this seems like a Lex/Lois movie as they seemed to be the main focuses. Plot holes everywhere. Especially if this was supposed to be a sequel to the Donner films. Plus there were a couple of incosistencies within this movie as well. I also agree with the statements of this being a chick flick, it did not seem like a comic action movie. At all. To me, the few action scenes that were in the film didnt make up for the rest of the "blah". I did enjoy Routh as both Clark and Supes, i really wish he had more screen time. The movie is "Superman" Returns. I think that alot of fans were so anxious to get a new Superman flick in theatres they are willing to accept anything that was thrown at them. This is my opinion, i feel the same way about Begins. I wont spend the money to see this in theatres again. Out of all the Superman movies, i rank this one third, with STM and S2 first and second respectively.

~~~~~~~~SPOILERS~~~~~~~~~
Great film. One complaint. Little boy blue and red. What purpose did he really serve? he was not nessesary. This is a SuperMAN movie and i dont see how his son will fit into the next two without stealing the film.
Re: I've seen Superman Returns
I thought Supes had lots of time in it, like Chris, he was the 70's Superman, the mightiest version.
I wish the silver-grey costume was seen more.
 Not as much action as either S1 or S2 but the effects are far superior to the Reeve era movies.
I say buy it but many may want to rent it first. It is a nice addition a DVD collection.
I think the emblem size on the suit is a bit larger than on the toy figures which are too small.
It's a stand alone film.
I havn't seen the show for a long time, a pal told me Roger Ebert, undeniably a fanboy, gave the movie thumbs down!
He wasn't that happy with a number of things in the movie. Roeper gave it a marginal thumbs up.
I saw it, I liked it.
I wish I had been a consultant, but since I wasn'[sign in to see URL] like what they did with it.
I did say I liked it, but I wasn't in love with it, hope to see a couple of more.
Re: I've seen Superman Returns
*******SPOILER ALERT (for the two brothers that haven't seen it yet) *******
Superman Returns, I would say to all that haven’t seen it yet…see it! I saw it last night and feel as though it was the worst action hero movie to date. I walked out early as soon as I saw Superman receiving oxygen on a gurney. I actually laughed out loud at that and decided I should just go home and go swimming with my son. He was bored. It was like if they revived the Batman series with “Batman and Robin” instead of “Batman”. Who was the movie geared to? Not kids, too long on disjointed story. Not adults , why would it pull anyone into the theater other than disappointed fans? The only thing that could have been worse was if it starred Ben Affleck. The whole idea Lex Luthor got his money from marrying a rich old bag….just lame. Kevin “park pickler” Spacey was lame. Parker Posey looked like she had taken a bite of **** before each take and made me wish Ned Beatty had revised his role as henchman instead. What was with the 10 minutes to show what one sliver of a crystal could do? Adding a child to Lois was like the introduction of Scrappy-Doo ,Batmite, or some other insipid tiny sidekick, it made the movie jump the shark 2 hours and 15 minutes early. That he had asthma didn’t add anything. The whole fiancée’ child thing seemed thrown in and could have cut the movie down to 1 hour and 45 minutes if it was left out. Take out the widower Lex scene and the prolonged crystal growing scenes and the time would go down to 1 hour 15 minutes. One of the worst parts of STM was the whole can you read my mind flying scene with Lois, well guess what, it’s back! Cut that out along with the hour-long introduction credits and the film is down to about an hour playtime. Why did they use Bosworth for Lois, wasn’t Katie Holmes available? In terms of Routh’s portrayal of Reeves, he did a good job but I didn’t pay to see Chris Reeves. I liked Routh better as Superman than Reeves, then again I hated Reeves. I haven’t watched any of the Superman movies he did since the first two were at the theater. The scenes with Clark Kent reminded me of another thing I hated about the Reeves movies, too much of a wussie. What was with the mop of stringy hair on him anyway? The “S” was too small on the chest and the low-rise briefs gave me the impression that Routh had a jelly belly when he was actually pretty buff. I don’t think this movie will gross ¾ of its 260 million dollar price tag and I figure by the time I edit out all the stupid dung I will have a movie that is about 45 minutes of kick ass special effects for my DVD collection. I think everyone who hasn’t seen it yet ought to run out and see it just to see how much of a train wreck it is for themselves.
I correct myself about the Chris Reeve movies not having as good effects.
SOME of the flying scenes are really good except his cape sticks to his body and doesn't blow around much. The heat vision beams look better in S3 than in SR.
I started having major misgivings when I heard the storyline for this one. It's just a little hard to buy that this is 5 years after S2, but the guy looks younger than the 1st movie! I'll wait to rent the DVD on this one!
If I had rented the DVD for home viewing I would probably stopped it an hour into the movie. I have four young boys who love the DC action heros but I bet the would not sit still even fifteen minutes for SR.
