posticon My First two costumes Robin & Superman

This is my very first post. I've been looking over lots and lots of pictures for the past two days. Everyone's work I've been seeing is absolutely amazing!! I've got to put some of these tips and tricks into use for sure. I feel inspired, but at the same time I'm discouraged, because I wonder if I'll ever be able to make something as great as some of the stuff I see here......but I'm gonna try, that's for sure!!

That all being said, I'd like to share with all of you my first two costumes. I don't make them for myself, if I made me a Batman costume, I'd have to be Fatman (maybe put a black chicken leg silhouette on a yellow oval for my chest symbol). But the past two years I've been lucky enough that my son didn't really care about his costume, so I got to make him what I wanted to make him (probably wont be so lucky for me next year, but I'll still make his and make what he wants).

The first year, I wanted to do something a little easy since it was my first time, so I did a Superman. Here it is in the making, the chest symbol isn't really on the suit, but I wanted to see what it was gonna look like, so I added with in photoshop.

Here he is wearing the finished costume, i made the background with photoshop in an attempt to give the pic a Reeve style tribute.

Here's 2004's costume.

Here's a few of just the costumes on hangers.

Thanks for looking, hope some of you will post opinions, always like to hear praise especially!!

Re: My First two costumes Robin & Superman

Thanks for the praise everyone. The shoes were pretty easy to make. I bought some rubber boots at wal-mart and used them. The ones I bought were really thick. They were clear, and had a camouflage type "footy" that slipped down into the boot. I just took the insert out, cut the top part of the boot off leaving the two "wings" and covered them with felt. Kinda the same thing with the Superman boots, just a pair or rubber boots, cut the top of it to make the back a little lower and give the front the "\/" archs and painted them red. Get lucky with kids stuff, it doesn't look too weird using the rubber boots right now.
