Instructions For Dying Under Armour

I know I've asked this before, but has anyone yet found a way of successfully dying Under Armour fabric?

Does anyone even know what Under Armour fabric is made from? :huh

I was looking at their earlier posts on the subject and then at the Under Armour website.

I don't know if the "TurfGear" is the same weight as the "HeatGear," but you CAN get a matching set of "carbon" gray HeatGear tops and bottoms from the Women's site. I don't think it is cut differently (for the bosom.)

The Men's long sleeve is "Turfgear."

I am having a hard time judging what color "carbon" really is, but I suppose you could check it out at your local sporting goods shop.

I prefer darker grey anyway.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, carbon's just a darker grey. Sort of in-between black and medium grey.

I'd feel kinda weird wearing women's clothes... I know Ed doesn't have this problem, but I don't think I could hack it, to be honest. :p

There's gotta be a way of dying this stuff, though. I can't believe that a FABRIC would be so hard to dye.

Buy some of that Rit dye and throw it in the washer and try it out. That armor looks like it is definitely worth trying for me making shirts and pants from it with armor attached. I wonder how latex will bite into that fabric.

I glued my armor down with DAP,but latex works well on it too,Paul. I put a zipper in the back and only used latex to secure it. I laid the zipper on the back of the shirt, masked it off and applied about five thin coats of latex and it's never coming off. It sunk right in and fused them together. After it was cured,I opened the zipper and cut the shirt open. It secured the zipper,so I'm sure it would secure the armor too.

The only reason I did this is because I got a large shirt so it would be really tight, but it was a little too tight. For my Panther,I used an X-large,which is really what I wear and it goes on and off very easily and is tight and form-fitting enough. I got it smaller because I didn't want it to sag,but it doesn't sag anyway,so go with your true size.

Give it a try. :up

i've posted it before, but i'll say it again. under armor is a polyester. i have not tried it, but i doubt rit will work. polyesters require a special dye and techique.

Ah, smeg. Probably more trouble than it's worth. Especially when you can buy various spandex items in any colour you desire.
