Velcroing Armor to a Bodysuit
HAs anyone tried to attach armor to the undersuit using velcro?
I've just had my lycra undersuit arrive and thought it might be a lot easier to wash it if the armor could be removed and simply velcroed back into place when required.
Has anyone tried this, or have any ideas?

Re: Velcroing armor?
I would have to say that pretty much everyone glues down there armor with DAP...GOOP or something along those lines. I personally don't know if velcro has enough strength to hold up armor alone. Even though there are industrial velcros out there.
Maybe someone out there has used only velcro. If so...hopefully they will post.

Re: Velcroing armor?
I have used Vlecro in the past to "strap" the armor together but it does come loose. I have never put enough on the undersuit it'self to mount it though...
I have also seen it on a muscle suit. Paul was using it to "hem" it to make it fit on me better. We ended up trashing and going with superglue to join the seams then latexing it.

Re: Velcroing armor?
I can't supply any advice as far as rubber armor and Velcro, but I do know that my Stormtooper Armor always needed constant re-adjusting with the Velcro that attached it into place.
Stormtrooper Armor has a bodysuit underneath it as well, although the Trooper Armor is a rigid plastic, as opposed to the flexible latex or urethane AND it's allowed to basically "hang" in place and stay loose, rather than get permanently attached to the bodysuit. But, in any areas that move with the normal body movements, it just seems like a non-winning struggle to rely on Velcro to stay put.
I would imagine that some areas would work great if you use Velcro to attach it to the bodysuit, but the more "flexible" areas definitely will loosen and seperate... not to mention make that constant crackling noise. I also wouldn't want to sew all that Velcro to the fabric, as just glueing it will never hold.

Re: Velcroing armor?
I think I'll just velcro the cod-piece then... for comfort and relief reasons!

Re: Velcroing armor?
If you velcro the armor down, I would be willing to bet that every time you bend over or change positions drastically you are going to hear a symphony of "RRRRIP!" sounds, from the Velcro being pulled as you move around.

Re: Velcroing armor?
I would have to say Deadcities is right about that, even on the cod piece area. Seriously..with every bend you make it will probably detach.

Re: Velcroing armor?
you can use industrial velcro with a small loop and hatch for the cod piece, trying to do it for all the armor makes the undersuit very stiff and not comfortable
as is my exsperiance...
but the cod piece velcro is a great thing to have.... for um...... many reasons :)
