Installing a Zipper

Bros, do you guys get zippers put into your suits ? I have one in my comic-style suit, but what about wet suits? and if so, where do you go go to get one "installed"? Most of the dry cleaners by my house barely speak any english. no offense.

Re: Zippers!!!!

Basically zippers in wetsuits are glued in. Various materials such as contact cement and hot glues have been used over the years.

Cut a slit in the back a bit shorters than the zipper teeth and glue in place. You can also provide some support to the zipper with some machine or hand sewing.

I hope this helps.

Re: Zippers!!!!

On my first '89 suit, which was mounted on UnderArmour,I put a zipper in the back, but going up and not down, since it was on a shirt and not a jumpsuit.
I put the shirt/armor on my mannequin and glued a 15" zipper just to hold it in place. Then I latexed it on there with about 5 coats about 1" [sign in to see URL] inch out from the center of the zipper on both sides. After the latex cured I opened the zipper and cut the shirt all the way up and that was that.
No sewing involved and it was totally flexible and easy to do. The latex sort of fused everything together so it would never come off.
Also,on the same suit,I put 2 6" zippers on the wrists.
