Removing an Under Armour Logo

I have used Underarmor before for a costume project but I ended up covering the front logo with a Bat symbol so I didn't worry about removal. Well, I recently bought a new underarmor-esque shirt (it's a different brand but is basically the same thing with the same type of logo application in the same spot). I'm using it for the new costume I'm doing for DC and SDCC (if I make it down there) and what I will be doing just won't cover it. Does anyone know how to safely remove it from the shirt? I know it has been talked about before. I think Brin had said something about washing it a bunch of times or something to that effect.

Also, whats the best way to apply a logo to a shirt of this kind? It's a large logo so iron on is unfortunately out of the question.

Well, this may be a long shot but, my family has been in the drycleaning business for over 30 years now. I have seen vinyl logos like the one you're talking about simply roll up and come off when they were exposed to different chemicals there. I have never tried it on purpose, but I will. I'll take an underarmor shirt by there and experiment with it to see what I can come up with. I'll let you know what I come up with.

is the logo a heat transfer or silk screened?

For replacing it with your logo, those two might be a good place to start looking.

If I remember correctly, Brin posted something about washing it in hot water and the logo would peel off. I may be wrong here, but check with him first.

Jp, that sounds great, let me know what you come up with, I'd love to be able to just pour some household chemical on the shirt and it come off with off damaging the cloth in anyway.

Tom, I'm fairly certain it is heat transfered just like on the underarmor. It seems to be the same. As for applying my logo with silk screening of heat transfer, I know nothing about how I would go about that. Who could I turn to for that?

Belmont, I remember Brin saying something very similar, I just don't remember exactly what it was

single color?

DIY silkscreen, http://www.photoez.us it'll give you the basics, you can use paper as a template, most craft stores have the basics for it.

heat transfer is basically a glorified iron on, but you could probably get a larger sheet then for a home printer. Most places that do T-shirts will do it I think. Call around.

Wouldn't heating it up with a heat gun or hair dryer cause it to peel at the corners?

Of silk-screening and heat transfer which is the better, more preferred method? The problem is the logo I am trying to put on there is bigger than I can print with my home printer so I will have to almost certainly take it to a local shirt place to have it done. I just want to know what I am talking about when I go in there.

Not sure, haven't tried that yet, but I will.

Re: Removing/Applying Underarmor symbol?

UPDATE: Well, I tried the "heating it up" method with a hairdryer on one of my underarmor shirts (not on this off-brand one that I have for this new project, as I only have one of it and don't want to risk ruining it) it did indeed just peel right off and I think I may have slightly burned my thumb using the hairdryer too lol

However, it did leave a "mark"/a shadow of the emblem is still there. I'm going to try some stuff to see if I can get rid of that. I still want to hear any other ideas that might help with this. I want it the be the best and cleanest removal possible.

I would imagine the mark would be there from the lack of wear on that area... I'm sure on an unused shirt it wouldn't show up. As a matter of fact, I think I'm actually going to try this right now with my underarmor, as it hasn't been used much

And sorry about suggesting something as dangerous as using a hair dryer :lol
