I also had the problem of a short neck cowl. I used a 1" piece of black foam cut out in the middle for my head to go through and wear it under my chest armor....works great! I am going to secure my cowl to cape with zap-a-gap and goop. nondisclosed_email@example.com (daytonbatz)Tue, 25 Oct 2005 00:28:00 +0000 Re: A cowl/cape questionhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794748,from=rss#post1794748https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794748,from=rss#post1794748I permanently attached my cape to my cowl with Bondini. Worked like a charm. :) The cowl only comes down to a couple inches above the shoulders, so the cape is literally hanging on it. However, it doesn't really feel any heavier to me. I do know that it solved the problem of my cowl scallops not coming down to my shoulders. What I did was I completely spread the cape out on the ground so the pie-minus-1-piece shape is clearly visible. I stood the cowl up on the opening in the cape and positioned it like I wanted, and then traced the outline of the bottom of the cowl onto the cape with a white-out pen. I then glued down one scallop at a time with the Bondini, working my way around the cowl, making sure the edges(scallops if you're using a '89 or '92 style cowl) of the cowl lined up with the line I traced. After about a half-hour it should be completely bonded.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PatrickJ)Mon, 24 Oct 2005 22:59:26 +0000 Re: A cowl/cape questionhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794747,from=rss#post1794747https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794747,from=rss#post1794747Sure doesn't. I got suited up in all the armor and boots then put the cape on and finally the cowl. I then had someone else make sure everything looked okay, and glued it down. Took about 30 minutes. The only downside to this is if you have a heavy cape. I use one of Artsee's all latex capes and while relatively light, it's still heavy. When it's attached to the cowl it's going to put a lot of weight on your head which will pull the cowl down and give you a headache. If you plan on wearing the costume for extended periods of time like i did at DC, you're going to have sore shoulders for a little while as well. -Mattnondisclosed_email@example.com (jawafive)Mon, 24 Oct 2005 22:51:36 +0000 Re: A cowl/cape questionhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794744,from=rss#post1794744https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794744,from=rss#post1794744i attach my cowl to my cape with velcro. i put the whole suit on and had my wife trace the scallops of the cowl. i then used industrial velcro with some loctite to get that extra needed strength. i did the same thing to the underside of the scallops. as far wrinkles, im assuming you mean the folds in the cape as it hangs, there shouldnt be too many, if at all, at the top of the cape.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Shadowbat69)Mon, 24 Oct 2005 21:59:12 +0000 Attaching a Latex Cape to a Cowlhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794743,from=rss#post1794743https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1794743,from=rss#post1794743How exactly do you go about setting up for attaching the cowl to a latex cape? - Do you wear the items and then have someone else do the glue for you? - Do you use a mannequin? What if you dont have one? - How do you work out the wrinkles etc? Do you do it smooth or do you just glue wherever it hangs? Many thanks for any help for what I hope to be doing in the very near future. Ken :)nondisclosed_email@example.com (Agent 10)Mon, 24 Oct 2005 21:27:17 +0000
