Cape Ribbing Tutorial

Here's what you need...

- Black Nylon Yarn. I got mine from Joann's for only $[sign in to see URL]

- SuperGlue (preferably the 'brush-on' type).

- Plasti Dip semi-gloss spray.

- And of course, your latex cape. :)

1. Wear the cape & the cowl and mark points (using white chalk or whatever) underneath each cowl's scallop tips. Once all the markings are done, take off both cape & cowl and spread the cape on a wide area.

2. Prepare to cut the nylon [sign in to see URL] note first if the thickness/diameter of the yarn string is exactly what you need. I had to un-twine the one i bought to smaller string so the 'ribs' would not look too thick and absurd-looking.

3. Use a brush-on super glue to attach each yarn string on the point marks where the cowl scallop tips should sit.

4. Once the glue settles dry, you can also apply liquid latex or rubber cement and let it dry. Why? The reason is superglue tends to get the strings brittle and it may detach from the cape later on.

5. Apply Plasti Dip over the strings when everything's dry.

There ya go.

Good info.

I must be [sign in to see URL] didn't even notice the ribbing lining up with the scallops of the cowl in your earlier posts. :doh

Hee hee. "Get her." That was your whole plan. I like it; it was scientific.

Great tutorial Bernie!!! Ed's right, we need to see more things like this, where people show us their own takes on customizing the Bat. Very cool. Keep up the good work bro :up

Since this thread has been decimated by photobucket, anyone happen to have these pics saved?

Marty, I will loo in my "archives" but I doubt I have them. I will also however send a PM to the OP and see if he can scare them up. Even though Photobucket has basically raped us the OP may still have them on his PB and may be able to retrieve them. If he is willing to send them to me I will do my best to "repopulate" tis thread.
