Just went out and bought two pairs of shin gaurds and a few lee bermejo comics. I wanted to see what the cowl looks like in person. I think its doable but I need to see someone else do it first. I think im gonna cover the shin gaurds in pleather. Any other ideas?

if it's garment grade, yes. most upholstery grade vinyl(oilcloth) has that fleece backing and isn't very stretchy

Say I had a batman cowl made of latex or something and I wanted to cover it with leather/pleater/vinyl...etc. How would I go about covering this part of the cowl?

For that part of the face I think a product like spirit gum would have to be used so the cowl would be close to the face. Also a lot of head measurements should be done for a good fit.

I'm working on a vinyl cowl myself and its coming along slowly. Hand sewing is a pain.

Another week and I should be done and I'll post a few pics.

Does anyone have an idea for making bat ears??

I suggest making them out of coat hanger. Just use a small pair of pliers. Can you post pictures now...cause i wanna see progress. That would really help.

for the face, i would use a shape that looks like that area if seen from straight on, but with the nose area dipping down to a point. spirit gum won't last but might be good to temporarily bond the material to the mask. remember, once vinyl is stretched, it won't go back to it's shape. leather can shrink back slightly if treated properly. to permantly attach the material to the mask, i'd use shoe barge.

That looks interesting. The only problems I see are with the rounding of the top and the facial feature defenition.
