Movie Cowl Descriptions
There was a sweet post a few months back describing all of the bat suits from the movies. However, I've heard a lot about different cowls for each. Some are obvious, but can someone go through (with a great of detail as the suit post) and give me an idea of what the differences between the cowls are?
Movie Batman is different from Returns due to the emblem. What else? What is the onstar cowl? Things like that.

There are alot of differences...which i you jus simply go and watch the films again you will see everything I think your unsure about
accept maybe the kilmer clooney which is different in subtile ways to some
this question comes up alot and there was supposed to be a gallery on the botb website for this but I think its either on hold or canceled.....not sure
but heres a quick run down
Batman / 89 / Keaton
very ruff cowl, urben, textured from the necking into the cape and looked very leather batwing like in texture...prefered by most true comic bat fans as it was the most believable cowl and actually in the right shadows would scare the crap outa you just by itself. Neck mating to cape was scalloped and the emblem black with a yellow base.
Batman Returns / 92 / Keaton
very sleek cowl, made to look very sharp but armored, horns were about as long as in the first film but much more geometric
(this bats favorite cowl of all) neck mating was again scalloped with a a black bat on a yellow base emblem
Batman Forever / 95 / Kilmer a.k.a Panther
very sleek and muscular. and the first cowl to be a bit shiny in nature as was the rest of the suit. also the first cowlto have the ears sweep from the back of the head forward. Very organic in nature....yet still simplistic. No scallops on the neck this time, and the black bat emblem is over a brass colored base.
Batman & Robin / 97 / Clooney a.k.a Bucket
similiar to the panther cowl accept that the ears became much more geometric, the necking exstened much lower to meet up with the emblem and also had very very small scallop like edges which meet up with cape clips.
Also the first cowl to not be black. It was a blue-ish purple silver color (actually purple/blue/green/red as it was a 4 or 5 step coloring along with the entire suit). The browe was very furled and extended out alittle more so then any of the others. Small scallops on the neck with a solid bat emblem and base color.
Batman Onstar / 2000 /
this cowl was simply a Panther cowl with resculpting of the neck to fit like the clooney cowl. The chest emblem nothing more then a clooney emblem with the pad in yellow.
Very good variation and a good hybrid comic look.
So, alittle summerized but a quick breakdown none the less...I'll try to post pics of each cowl to go with the descriptions once I return home wher emy archives are
and no worries, once your steeped in this hobby the cowl differences will be as clear to you as day

Its a over sculpt of the panther suit with cropped ears and air vents....and the clooney ice cowl was the same but recolored to fool you
didnt feel like mentioning it I guess
but here goes
Batman Forever / 95 / Sonar Cowl
a very simetrical geometric cowl that the entire suit is nothing mor ethen a redone panther....if you look closely enough you can see thru it to the panther core.
12 step color process to bring about the silver blue grey coloring here, which makes the suit change color in every light...even looks black sometimes.
Has sweeping forward ears that are angle cropped to lower bat-resistance I guess. THere are vents in the ears as well as one in the middle of the top of the skull
first cowl to brigde over onto the moth opening, also had nightvision sonar lenses built in that were controled via the belt button. And like the panther there are no scallops on the neck , infact its pretty much a short vneck, and the bat emblem is very large covering the entire chest, which is colored the same as the suit.
