It's gonna' sound a bit shocking, but...

I've read in the archives area... in order to keep latex from tearing any further, if you drill a hole at the very end of the tear, that should stop it from progressing any further. If you don't pull on it too much and treat it like a newborn baby, you might be able to get some screen time in.

Of course you'll have a hole at the end of your tear, but if the hole is clean and round, unless you yank the crap out of the mask, it should stop it from progressing any further.

As XEROCOOL2002 says, the Crazy Glue brand glue should be the best product to mend the tear, but it won't flex at all, anymore. It won't stretch at that spot ever again. Epoxy will mend it too, but will be too brittle and crack. Don't use that. Also, as shadowbat69 has said, by all means, don't put paint in the tear. You'll have screwed the pooch if you do that.

Unfortunately the most sensitive spot on the cowl has been damaged.

Do yourself a favor and get in touch with DavidYR1. If time is against you, Jants will definitely advise you the best he can.

Good luck to you.

NO - drilling a hole on that cowl will only make matters worse.
First of all it's urethane - the sticky material will only stick & curl to the drill bit no matter how fast it rotates.
That technique only works for latex.

If you want to fix it yourself, get a super-sharp Xacto knife and cut smooth incision all the way around the tear. That is, the cut had to smooth & precise and you gotta have skills to do it.

One last hope is to contact the maker of the cowl.
