It just takes a little patience to get the clay down right, but it works. Obviously though the best way is to pour the black resin into the bat and ring mold first, then the yellow, followed by more black (my preferred method). Or doing it in three pieces and attaching it all together, but if you have just a solid 1 piece emblem, the clay method will do the trick. Oh and Tony, could you contact me, thanks. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jants)Fri, 05 Mar 2004 15:17:38 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797557,from=rss#post1797557https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797557,from=rss#post1797557BruceWayne131 i still need a onstar 2 pice emblem but i have pationce   :coffee nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mexicanbat)Fri, 05 Mar 2004 01:55:30 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797556,from=rss#post1797556https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797556,from=rss#post1797556 :laugh @ Timnondisclosed_email@example.com (BruceWayne131)Fri, 05 Mar 2004 01:00:03 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797555,from=rss#post1797555https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797555,from=rss#post1797555Great thread ... All of my emblems are poured urethane quick cast, where I use different tints and powders for dusting my silicone molds. The paint method I described earlier was from a long time ago when I got a whole bunch of different emblems from BV and none of them were painted at all. So to make all of my emblems the right colors I used the clay off method and I have even recently helped a bro out by doing it for his Clooney emblem, turning it into an OnStar. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jants)Thu, 04 Mar 2004 14:41:04 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797548,from=rss#post1797548https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797548,from=rss#post1797548great topic! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jack Knight1979)Thu, 04 Mar 2004 10:11:47 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797547,from=rss#post1797547https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797547,from=rss#post1797547Bob, Long ago i have gone the same route you are talking about. All of my emblems are of a 3 piece design with the exception of the Clooney which is a 2 piece mold. Although i do color my resin i still like to paint each piece. As for paints i only use automotive lacquer. I also prime each piece before giving it its finish coat. The primer bonds to the resin and in turn the finish coat bonds to the primer. Its durable and it dries in no time. Once assembled they are all crisp and clean looking. ...Lounondisclosed_email@example.com (BruceWayne131)Wed, 03 Mar 2004 03:53:20 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797546,from=rss#post1797546https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797546,from=rss#post1797546Bob :rollin Hey Mark, since your suit was taken right off of the statue, the emblem is also latex as the rest of the chest, so you can follow the same instructions I said earlier, just get some yellow plasti-dip and black plasti-dip, mask off everything but the emblem and it will work fine. Paint the whole emblem yellow, clay out the background and then hit is with black plasti-dip. Just be careful and make sure you get it nice and smooth.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jants)Thu, 26 Feb 2004 21:01:00 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797545,from=rss#post1797545https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797545,from=rss#post1797545Well latex sticks to latex best. All you do is tint the latex with acrylic paint bought at any place that sells craft supplies and airbrush the piece. You may need to thin out the your mixutre with distilled water (a milk consistency) to flow nicely through the airbrush. Keep a bowl of water with a little bleach or mild detergent in it to dip the airbrush into between sprays to avoid clogging. And just spray out the excess and refill paint cup or bottle and and continue. You could probably use one of those gray paint sponges with a wooden handle to apply the paint as well. Just follow the steps for the airbrush. One other thing if you have a costume or medical store shop near by you can probably get the latex there. Another flexible solution is pros-aide. This is used to make pax. You just mix the acrylic paint with the pros-aide. Its a medical adhedsive used in the film industry for masks and makeup applications. Also if you need to fill in a seam say on latex, you can use prosaide mixed with cabosil. It becomes a paste like medium and once its applied to the surface its stays put and flexible. You can also get a clear gloss for latex as well to give it a nice little shine. If you need to know where to find latex and the clear flexible gloss just me know and either i can or another one of these very talented batz can point you in the right direction :up nondisclosed_email@example.com (GOBBY)Thu, 26 Feb 2004 19:25:25 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797542,from=rss#post1797542https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797542,from=rss#post1797542Hey Guys, I have a complete Clooney outfit, and the emblem is built into the latex chest and it is all black, Janty has a great idea with the clay, but what is the best way to do this to latex, painting wise? In the early days, when I had hair on my head. I used to pour it in like brin mentioned. This requires the resin be a very thin viscosity otherwise it will not flow evenly around the edges, but rather settle with a slight wavy edge. Later on, after all muh damn hair was gone, I got the wacky idea of making a mold for the yellow. Now I can just snap the yellow in place. The nice thing about this is that on close inspection, the edge is always the same, as is the surface, on close inspection. What this requires is however that the recest area be cut deeper, so a bit of leg work is involved. The yellow must be thin enough to make for a nice raised ring and bat. But this is by far the most time-consuming, tricky method I have done. Also if you really want to go that xtra mile, get the more expensive high-temp epoxies, bake the pieces out, then use automotive (not hobby store) enamel (not acyrlic - not pearlescent) paints that will give you a hard-looking metal like look and feel on close inspection, and not the look of plastic. At that point, even metal wouldn't make much difference. I found over time I liked the emblem and belt to be shiny with everything else being flat. But obviously this is not quick batta-boom batta bing thing.. nondisclosed_email@example.com (youngbat)Thu, 26 Feb 2004 10:31:24 +0000 Re: Bat emblem?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797537,from=rss#post1797537https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1797537,from=rss#post1797537This information couldn’t come at a better time for me.
