Re: Check out these bad boys...

Thanks again! I'm looking forward to making more with this stuff, including some boot spats. I got it in a 4' x 8' sheet for $30, and thats enough to make TONS of stuff with.

Plasti-Dip is a rubberized tool-handle coating thats available in either spray form or "dipping" form. I found it near the adhesives and putties section at Home Depot(and the spray paint sections at Lowes, I *think*). The spray form is extremely popular among bat-costumers because it gives a handsome, black sheen that evens out the finishes on very different materials and makes everything look like one component. Once I used it on these braces I saw what all the hype was about. It will stick to most anything. From making these braces I know it will stick to metal(the bolts I used to hold the fins down), wood, and sintra.

On sintra at least, it makes the sintra look like polished leather(to me anyway). And in terms of being scratch resistant, it seems to react in the same way to scratches as leather. Scratches from a fingernail are barely noticeable, and it takes considerably more force to substantially scratch it as far as I can tell.

Maybe some of the other bros around here know some tricks to repairing scratches in plasti-dip.

Thanks for the info! I'll definately add plasti-dip to my shopping list. I used epoxy to attach my fins directly to the shell then painted the whole thing. I'm glad to have another Sintra user to compare notes with! Keep up the good work! Mike
