Rivets still appear on the glove, and the rail is more the width of a drawer rail, so the comic book isn't accurate. Note the holes and nubs along the center line of the rail. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Apocalypton)Sat, 22 May 2004 16:43:19 +0000 Re: Functioning '89 gloves... rambling post...sorry!https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1798026,from=rss#post1798026https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1798026,from=rss#post1798026Quote:Luke Roberts wrote: The mechanism you describe would be a little like the one Robert De Niro uses in Taxi Driver, to make the hand gun pop out from his jacket sleeve. So it would appear I found a niche ! :bounce OK, in that case then I am going to try and fabricate an "Arm Ram". (thanx Zane!). I take pics and keep you updated on progress. Batman flicked his wrist up to release the spring-loaded arm ram. But since he often gyrated his wrists during fighting or other maneuvers, there had to be something special in that case. One guess is a thin cable attached to the ram’s spring catch -- with a pull-ring at the cable’s near end, and big enough to slip over, say, his gloved little finger. The pull ring would dangle a bit beyond the wrist slot, and in preparing to use the ram, he’d simply slip his little finger through the ring, then flick his wrist up to release the catch. Now if you really want to build a functioning arm ram, it seems only right to armor the gauntlets with epoxy-Kevlar® arm guards as well! Good luck, and keep us posted on whatever you end up doing.  :symbol Zane PS. Compared to the comic book rendering of the arm ram, your drawer rail should be a big improvement -- although you might need to develop a snap-up and locking ram-head. Note the comic book image indicates the ram-head normally clads part of the glove palm (compared with the other palm that shows what appears to be a triangular pad of rivets -- or perhaps another ram-head). If this were true, then the ram-head would have to be curved, following the palm's contour. But that would appear to be pretty clumsy. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Apocalypton)Tue, 18 May 2004 17:49:40 +0000 Re: Functioning '89 gloves... rambling post...sorry!https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1798021,from=rss#post1798021https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1798021,from=rss#post1798021Mark, Sounds like a good idea. I have not heard of anyone trying this yet. The mechanism you describe would be a little like the one Robert De Niro uses in Taxi Driver, to make the hand gun pop out from his jacket sleeve. Could definately work.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Luke Roberts)Tue, 18 May 2004 15:53:10 +0000 '89 Arm Ramhttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1798020,from=rss#post1798020https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1798020,from=rss#post1798020What do I mean by Functioning? It's a glove right... :doh Well, I guess what I want to know is, has anybody tried to replicate the following... In the scene towards the end of the film, when Batman has followed Joker and Vicki up to the belfry, he is attacked by some goons. One of the guys comes flying thru the air towards him, when he holds out his arm in a block, but from his glove, out bursts a "shield" (for want of a better decription)and takes the guy out. Anybody tried making one of those? I don't remember anyone talking about it before. I think it would be a pretty cool thing to try, and got to thinking about how to replicate it. Came up with a sliding drawer mechanism, that is strapped to the arm and the glove would need to be split at wrist. Just not sure how you could activate it...?  :huh What do you guys think, and if anyone has already done it, can they show us how? cheersnondisclosed_email@example.com (ukbat)Tue, 18 May 2004 15:48:34 +0000
