Bronze Christopher Reeve Bust - Pics

Hi Everyone!!

I'm pretty excited about this, I actually did a "cold cast Bronze" Reeve bust!! This is 100% Bronze... Cold to the touch and about 15-20 pounds in weight!

Even though this is VERY expensive and NOT easy to do, I'm already dreaming of my Batman Bust all bronzed :dancespot

You need to contact the guy at the Superman museum in Metropolis, IL.
He'd snap one of those up in an instant.

Blackwood, i'm sure howard (?) will fill you in on how he did this, but cold casting (in a nutshell) is done by adding bronze powder to resin... and it looks bloody great!

Yanno - you can't use steel, but you can do the same with nickel silver....

Re: Check This Out... Bronze Christopher Reeve Bust!!!

Thanks Everyone!!!

Yes, in a "nutshell" it's adding "bronze" powder to resin... let's explain this out of the "nutshell" :tongue

First, about 15 pounds of VERY expensive Bronze powder is added to the resin I normally use, (EasyFlo) then after casting all of the 15 pounds into the casting, let it cure longer than normal... pull the casting and trim. Then oxidize the casting with patina (average 1/2 hour), once nice and dark, almost black... wash with de-greaser. Then spend about 2 hours steel wooling this baby, till it has the look you want, after this take a spin wheel polishing pad and go to town on it till it has the luster you want (can be done with a polishing compound if desired). Finally spray sealer laquer on it, I went with out-door sealant :happy

And that's about it.... very involved and not cheap but worth it if you ask me.
