If you get Jerry V's gloves and Ed's boots...I can paint them for you to match whatever color you go with for your suit...I painted these to match my Brothers Robin costume..and they started off as black leather gloves...I've also been working with leather for a while now...:)

You can paint them? Oh cool! Will the paint hold up on the leather?

Yes, it will hold up well.
As long as you dont abuse them, or forcefully try to get the paint off...you'll be fine with them for years to come.

......call me at the studio if you like and we can discuss everything in better detail if you like..I practically live here anyhow....416 746 4083

"1. How do I know if a cowl will fit me and look right on me? Are these made to fit?"

Personally, the cowl that you pick has to kind of be around your measurements. If a cowl is too small, then no matter what material you use, stretchy etc...it will then distort the shape of the cowl and won't look as professional (in my opinion, no offence to those who make stretchy cowls). The Clooney is the largest cowl, the Returns is the second largest (just about as big as the Clooney) and the Panther is almost as big as the Clooney and Returns, coming in 3rd.

"2. For the glued on version, does everyone here use a wetsuit or do some glue to spandex? What is the mobility like? How would you clean the undersuit?"

I use either lycra or spandex. I have video footage of me in one of my Robin suits, which is made of thin latex backed by foam, and I am doing very high spin kicks with ease. In other words, maneuverbility is very nice. Plus, with lycra or spandex, removing and putting on the armor is a snap. Cleaning the undersuit with your hand and soap, followed by hanging out to dry is perfect.

Everyone that know me, knows I am a fan of how it was done in the movies. Tight fitting, with a cowl that fits around the individual persons head measurements. These are my opinions and not meant to be offensive to how other people do their costumes.

Thanks Jants... I saw your Robin suit at Comic Con last year and saw the video. Your Robin chest strapped on?

So what measurements would I need to take to know what cowl I should go with? Like I said, I am interested in a HUSH style

Actually my Robin suit was completely glued onto a spandex bodysuit, with DAP Weldwood Contact Cement. I threw the Robin suit together in like a week or so, which is why it was a little crude, but considering that I had just finished gluing it down the same day we walked around the Con all day, it stayed on very well. :)

Basically, measure how many inches it is around your head, at the brow. Then measure from the top of your head, down to under your chin, over the nose. Then from under your nose, to the bottom of your chin.

From what I know, Lance and Jeremy's hush cowl is big enough to where it will fit fine and the cowl is beautiful. If you have a bigger head then what their Hush cowl will fit, you could ask them to make it thinner then usual, I'm sure they could accomodate.

I know that several members are making a Hush cowl, myself included and as soon as it's done I'll post pics for you and everyone else to see.
Fit with this wont be a problem you can bet on that.

Besides...unless someone has your head cast...no cowl will fit you like a glove. Every cowl has a generic fit that can be easily customized to whoever the wearer is...in cases of fan films, where exact fitting prosthetics or masks were necessary I had the client send me life casts of the actor/s and their items will fit them like a glove. Anyone else it will fit well...but not like the person it was sculpted for obviously.
These batcowls all have a generic fit..we all just work with different materials based on the needs of the project at that given time.

Big important question... what is the turn around time for a suit like this?

Turnaround time and other detials are best discussed privately rather than on an open forum.
I'll be more than happy to work out some kind of trade where we're both happy but we should discuss it privately.
