Early Batshop Designs

One early version of the sonar suit was black. I have a picture of a stunt guy in beautiful black sonar suit. The color scheme that they ended up with is compirsed of 12 different colors. They allways do that sort of thing. They never want anything to look too "flat". or "dry".
Another early sonar suit had the cowl stop at the base of the neck. I have a picture of that somewhere and some bozo at the shop stuck a 7-11 slurpie in front of the face.
The torso was originaly much more streamlined and thinner like the panther suit. These guys sculpt what they think would look good, and various execs, directors etc. may force them to make changes. I have a picture of an early version of the panther suit. legs and cod all in one piece like the 89 suit. I like the overall form on this piece a little better than what they ended up using because it looked more natural, less forced. The muscles were less "in your face". There were also some different prototype panther belts. and a slightly different sonar belt that was made up of multiple pieces across the waist. I have pictures of this. One early version of the sonar cowl had a chin guard and no lines in the temples, This design was used by several toy companies because at the time that's all they could give 'em, and the toy man. had to get the production going. At the batshop they could change things at the last moment so to speak.
I have a Batman Returns emblem that was submitted as a prototype that got turned down. I also have 4 pictures of a prototype cowl done for Keaton for Batman returns that never saw the light of day. It was similar to the 89 cowl except just a bit slicker, and less rugged. still had the texture stamped around the lower half, but the upper half was like glass.
Alotta great stuff they often do that does not get on screen. I often like what they don't go with
