Re: Rubie Clooney suit Pics please!!

I don't know the vintage of mine. Got it from an ebay seller who said it was originally $500 but I could get it for $300.

I conversed with the sculptor of the Rubies Clooney and he admitted it was far from accurate and could use any help it could get. He claimed it was lack of good reference.

Now, I must remove ALL the carpet foam and rubber caulking that's stuck all over the tunic front and peeling it off, bit by bit is the only way. FUN!

I think that what's left of my tunic renders it trashed but some batsuit pieces are still usable.

I went to Target to get grey 2 piece thermal underwear in case I liked the hybrid idea well enough and would save a bundle not buying movie suit things.

Store had more underwear than Carters had pills but I only saw a grey long sleeved thermal shirt, NO grey bottom unless you'd want the matching tight boxers!

NO black, Superman blue or red either.

The very flattened musculature of that suit is nothing like the movies suits at all... yet it is a very interesting look, and if it were tighter and with no unsightly folds it would actually look quite good.

It's kind of like my idea of a seamed wetsuit or a wetsuit with thin flat rubber plating (stuck to the surface or sewn in between 2 layers). I like the idea of vaguely human musculature defined by recessed lines on a sleek flat surface much more than big sculpted "bumps" - it makes it feel more like traditional tights rather than a rubber statue, but still has the necessary detail needed to add depth on screen.

Luke-- don't mean to sound defensive-- but are you saying the suit needs work, or do you like the suit??

Well, I don't really like the idea of rubber suits in general, but no, I was saying that the flatness of the muscles, caused by the fact that it is a poor quality licensed item, actually adds something unique (and positive) to the look of the suit. I'm GLAD it doesn't look like the movie suit, because frankly I hate the sculpting of them. You've taken a negative (poor quality flat costume piece) and turned it (probably unintentionally) into what I see as a positive.

The look of the flattened muscles is something interesting, something that could be taken further as an idea and turned into something really great that we haven't really seen before. If someone could create that flattened muscles/recessed lines look on a tight, body-hugging creaseless suit, you'd really have something - a kind of cross between plain tights and the sculpted rubber look.

As for the suit itself, it's probably the best you can make that kind of suit look, you've certainly done well to make what is pretty much universally described as a crappy product look as good as it does.

So definitely no offence or negative criticism intended.

cool-- thanks buddy.

Your right, compared to the great suits some guys make, wearing this suit, without modifications, is embarassing.

Sorry I took your comments wrong.

What did you think of the DareDevil Movie costume??

I think the DD suit is very good for what it was, and amazingly well put together.

I think I'd have liked to see a more traditional look though, "realism" be damned.

The best thing about it is that it proved you could probably do a leather Batman cowl with lenses that would look great.

James Acheson certainly is an extremely talented guy... I would have love to see him combine his leather techniques from DD and his super-tights techniques from Spidey to produce the ultimate film Batman costume. Sadly it was not to be.
