You might be able to use one of these and possibly modify it. $29 for 3.

Re: BTAS grappling hook gun

OK, got some more pics, and VIDEO of the hook blasting off...the video clips are all in the 350K range quicktime...and are very poor, but video camera battery is dead so shot them with my digi still. You'll get the idea at least, and see why the tube on both the hook and gun side needs to be longer...I should also mention, I'm not actually sure what PSI I'm using, going to run some tests when the battery is charged up and use 100 psi setup.

I like the arrow tip, and I'm sure there's a correct name, (broadhead?) but don't know if it'd be safe enough...maybe when I make my REAL REAL one. :wink I can use one of those. BTW, I'd love to have one that would work like they're supposed to...but just don't think it'd haul my ass off the ground. :grumble

anyway, as you can see in the video the Christmas tree version of the hook will dent foam at a foot away.

and anyone from the other boards, or who cares, I just opened the mold on my power battery, only demolded half, looks GREAT so far. I'll pry the original out the rest of the way in the AM and start casting the first one up. :dancespot

bottom of the page has the clips linked.

haven't had much time to work on it the past few days, got a bunch of little jobs that need to get wrapped up this week, so been spending time on them. gotta pay the bills. As soon as I can I'll get back to it and actually cut up some wood to make the first real world version.

I thought I'd spill the beans and let everyone know it is my Nightwing film Tom is building the gun for. I was pretty happy when he said he was up for doing it.

Re: BTAS grappling hook gun

well, digging up old posts is my thing today...finally getting back to building this in the next week.

Added new design work to the page, got the barrel built in the computer. Have yet to do the hook, but that'll be easier in the real world anyway.

http://www.clevelandfx.com/images/grapgun/grapgun3.htm

Does that look right, any comments before I start building the thing? It's a bit blocky for my taste, but looks to be fairly close to the cartoon. I may round the transitions on the barrel slightly, but that's not for sure yet.

Anyway, this is your last chance to bash the design before I go and spend some time on it, and everyone here is much more versed in bat-lore then I am.

Ok, off to bed.

I'm probably wrong but I could've sworn the base of barrel (green area) was longer. Hard to say if I'm right since the animation differed so much from episode to episode.
