OK,there won't be any [sign in to see URL] least for a while.
Out of the blue and for no apparent reason my camera doesn't work anymore. It just stopped working. The power comes on,but nothing happens. I don't have access to a camera,no money to fix this one and certainly no cash for a new one. So that's the end of that.

As for the [sign in to see URL] works. Too bad nobody's ever gonna see it,but it works. Sorry guys.

I'm thinking you probably cut slits, or crevaces into the inside of the side of each part, then glued the rubber strips into them. That's the way I would have done it, anyway. John this rang looks amazing and is really an inspiration to us all. emoticon

elastic cord embedded in the casting?

70D, never used it, but looks to be pretty similar to some of their other [sign in to see URL] have been one of those freak things.

as for the color and painting issues, the first time I got a black pigment it was in a jar, and appeared to be different from the so-strong type, maybe look into that, it seemed to give a more opaque and better black, I'll dig around and see if I still have it. The painting, well, I do a powder coat now when I cast stuff, been using aluminum powder, seems to paint better afterwards with less scrubbing, plus with some steel wool it gives a really nice fake metal look.

Thanks Al and thanks for the advice Tom.

Tom,you're sorta, kinda, halfway in a roundabout way on the right [sign in to see URL] the right train anyway. :wink

As I study it I think a thin sheet of rubber on the back for the center two sections would make it look nicer, plus make it more stiff. I also have a couple of ideas to make it click and 'lock',but I guess that's pretty obvious how I'll do that.
I'm gonna tweak this bad boy. :firemad
