Re: Begins Grappling gun prop
my favorite local electronics place has some strong ones
http://www.electronicsurplus.com/ccc1724-magnets.htm
also, the magnets in hard drives rock...I caught my thumb between two once, tore off a big chunk of flesh, BE VERY CAREFUL if you do decide to go that route. They'll hold together through my wrist. got pics if anyone wants to see.

Re: Begins Grappling gun prop
Someone posted this site a while back. I was planing on using a dremmel tool to sand away the areas of the belt and replace them with real magnets for something just like what you're talking about.

Re: Begins Grappling gun prop
Yeah Rick... like Tom I've had a few bad experiences while playing around with HD magnets. Those things'll pinch you hard enough to give you a nice blood blister, and that's if you're lucky. I had the sharp edge of a broken one give me a nice gash on my thumb once, but boy will they ever hold. They're about the strongest non-electrical magnet I've seen.

Re: Begins Grappling gun prop
What are they, rare-Earth magnets??? Those are really strong.
You can use them for a bunch of things from keeping pouches closed on your belt to attaching emblems onto costumes. Heck they even used them in the Spider-Man movies to keep his lenses on his mask.

Re: Begins Grappling gun prop
Wel I ordered a pair of these earth magnets Rare Earth Magnet - Block - 1.000 x 0.250 x 0.100 - Package of 20 from this website listed above so hopefully when they get here I can modify the belt to hold that on the back.

Neodymium magnets are pretty strong. Just be careful with them.

Re: Begins Grappling gun prop
Well if the ones I got, http://www.rare-earth-magnets.com/detail.aspx?ID=88 say correctly it has a pull force of 4.83lbs. So is that a could pull force to keep it aligned to the belt on the back if I work it right but weak enough for me to pull it off easily? Also about how long do those type if magnets keep their magnetic power so I won't have to swap them out every so often?
