Painting Urethane a myth??

Hello peeps!

At the risk of repeating 'old news' i would like to share something that i have recently found.

Having attempted to paint one of my urethane Panther belts & failed miserably on more than one occasion due to the bonding & flexing issues that we know so well. I asked around and was told 'nothing much sticks to urethane'.
Then i find the brotherhood and come across a thread that gives a primer product that works, great, only nobody in my town has ever heard of it and the suggested supplier is out of stock!

After almost giving up hope i visited the local 'Sherwin Williams' again & found XIM Sealer-bonder-primer.

Works like a charm brothers!! Cost approx $14 per 12oz spray can & even bonds to glass.I painted my belt about a month ago & waited 'till now to make sure there would be no cracking or peeling and not a blister!

Photos attached of old Panther belt now proudly displayed on suit.

A happy Bat once again.

Later geezers!! :cheers

Looks like the whole thing comes together really well. You must be proud. Now suit up and show off the belt proper like.

Wow, thats good info to know!

For years now, I've been told the only way to paint urethane is through the use of chemicals, powders and a spray gun.

Knowing something is out there that we can use will make life a bit easier now! Awesome find! :up :up

Have you worn it yet though? See how it holds up while wearing it.

I made a urethane rubber Hush logo for my Artsee chest piece a while ago and plasti-dipped it, against warnings from several people that it wouldn't stick... It stuck, for a while, and peeled off... after wearing it.

Does that stuff go under the paint, or is it the paint?

I think its like a primer, you apply it, wait a bit, and then apply the paint.
