Re: Begins gauntlet project resurrected! - PIC update 4/07 - finished gauntlets!

If your hands are bigger than mine(and mine are pretty average sized), then you'd probably have a tough time getting them on(more so when trying to get them off).

So the doors ARE necessary.

They could probably withstand abuse to a certain point. Smooth-on calls the resin I'm using "high-impact", so I'm guessing so.

However I'm not willing to test it. :lol

Also another thing to think about is that these gaunts are not one-piece - so if they were to take abuse, there's a chance that if the fins took a blow they could very well come off. That said though they are glued on pretty well.

BUT, I've decided that sooner or later I will be making fiberglass gaunts. I'm just starting to get the hang of plain ol' resin.

I'll take a pair with Forever fins.

Nice job on those Patrick.

Patrick,
You might want to experiment with putting metal pins along the pointed edge of the fins to help keep them from popping off a fin tip.
Great job, and I'd like to be added to the "list".

I'll see what I can do TJ. :wink

And Keith, I'll keep you posted - as with everyone else who's expressed interest. If you've pm'ed me and I didnt respond, dont worry, I still know you all are interested. :up

And Brin, thanks for the "tip". I'll find a diameter of rod that will work before I do any more castings. :p

I'm having issues with my molds at the moment, they're kinda "taking on damage" from having just done 3 castings each. I'm getting some of Smooth-on's Silpoxy to see if I can patch these tears up. Until that arrives I'll focus on assembling and finishing what I've casted. :)

Now for my main question at the moment:

Does anyone have pics of the "trap doors" on the accurate gauntlets?

I don't know the exact locations of the edges of the doors. :huh

maybe you could ask for pics from the few guys here that got BB bronze gauntlets, I forget their name...anyway the gauntlets looked very accurate, could be helpful.
