Panther Gloves - WIP Pics
I started on the gloves today. I happened to have a couple of pairs of boots lying around the house, and I am just going to resurface the whole forearm with the material I had left over from my cape so the whole forearm will have that one piece look.
I used some wire to make the ribbing on the top of the glove and just super glued it down, should hold fine, then basically tucked and rolled the material over it.
Here are a couple of progress pics. I plan on making latex ribbing for the wrists and using some Thunderwear Gloves. I also have an idea for the zipper using the one thats on the boot. More pics as I get further, let me know what ya think.
Attached are some updated pics I managed to get of the forearm pieces cut and ribbed, almost finished with it. I am waiting for the gloves to come in and attach them before I make the curved bottom on the wrist part of the gloves.
I think they are coming out pretty nice considering I have never tried this before. I think these will look sharp with a set of fins and the rest of the glove and wrist ribbing attached. The last picture is just a mock up attached with duct tape to hold the piece on and to show the clearance from each other in the middle of the glove.
I have an idea on how to use the existing zipper for the wrist and glove area. I'm going to attach the glove first so that the zipper lands in the middle of the palm. Then I'm going to pull the zipper handle all the way off of the zipper at the top of the glove and then epoxy it closed so it never opens again at the top of the glove.
I will then cover it with the overlap of the leather so it hides the zipper, then open the zipper at the bottom of the glove and attach the zipper handle, then slit the palm of the glove and attach the end of the zipper to it.
This will make it look just like or very close to the real deal. When the zipper handle is pulled up it will close the zipper and down will open it. I have to say I am having a great time discovering ways to make things like this out of scratch. :up
Got the red and white Thunderwear gloves and dyed them black with spray dye. It was a bit too shiny so I used black shoe polish to dull it up a bit. All that is left is making the mold for the wrist ribbing.
