Re: foamies suit build

I just got the zipper installed on the back today and I'm really anxious to try it on! I've gotta grab some more foamies sheets to finish up the shoulders and arms but after that all I've got left is the leg armour.

Speaking of leg armour... any suggestions on how to go about this with foamies would be much appreciated. I'm thinking I'll just use a pair of black tights and glue the armour on it. The fabric glue I've been using seems to be very strong so the tights should keep the shape of the foamies...

Getting a quality cowl looms more and more ominously...

Realizing full well what a massive undertaking that would be, may I suggest you make your cowl out of foamies? You have done so well thus far, and I think that with some creative enginuity you could make a mighty fine cowl that would match your suit well, and it will be made from the same materials, so it will match texturally and in color.

Again, I know it's not easy, but I think you could achieve a wonderful result if you try it!

Re: foamies suit build

i agree that it would match amazingly to have a cowl constructed of foamies and i have already been considering it... but i just have no idea where to even begin. My question is this: is there some kind of pattern i could at least refer to when trying to do this? Believe me i'd LOVE to go this route (save a crapload of money doin it too) i just really need some help on how to get started...

A good place to start might be looking at some of the stitched leather cowls some of the bros here have made. Because the leather doesn't stretch, it could be patterned similarly to the 2mm foamies, but glued instead of stitched or something akin to that.

Thanks, I've been looking at some of the leather cowls out there and It seems to me that it will be very difficult but I'm going to try it regardless :p (In the mean time I'll be saving for a begins cowl :lol ) I'll see if I can get in touch with some brothers who have had success with leather/fabric and get some ideas.

Look up "millerbats" cowls in the archives. He has done some truely intense stuff with Paper mache and fabric and plastic which could easily be done with Foamies.

I finished the upper suit! Although it looks pretty awesome in black and blue, i have decided, that it's just not what i want. A coat of plasti dip is drying as i write this! Pics are taken before spraying(obviously).
