My friend made a scarecrow straight jacket out of 2 long dresses and some belts.

Haha, i followed some advice about putting the mask in the Washing machine to make it look more worn, it got torn to shreds haha.
Now to start over, as soon as i can find more burlap

He bought the mask from a board member on the rpf a few years back. But looking and feeling the mask it is hard around the nose in the inside. Not sure but the original maker maybe stiffened it up with some kind of glue. My friend also painted the burlap to weather it up a bit to look more dirty and used.

I have made some inquiries and found that you can use PVA glue, basically wood glue. You can water it down, as it is water based and paint it on, it's white but dries clear. When its dry it will make the Burlap/Hessian go hard :up You may want to do the gluing on a dummy head though emoticon Its also good once you have frayed the material at the edges paint it with the solution to stop it fraying any further :up If you add some water based paint to the solution it will help give it a darker dirtier appearance as well BONUS emoticon
Edit: I've just had another idea :confused In begins crane had a respirator type mask inside to protect him from the gas. You could glue a DIY dust mask inside, this would help it keep some shape and stop the burlap rubbing your face making it more comfortable :raiseeybrow :) in fact I think I'm going to try it :toocool

Hello. This was my guess to exactly how it was done as well. Me and azspidey even used some acrylics to make the overall appearance of the mask even darker. Here are a few higher rez pics of the work.

As far as the straight jacket, i used two matching dresses found at a thrift store. The color I believe closely resembles the movie jacket. Maybe a bit more greyer, I dunno... Not too bad for a thrift find…(a little bit of weathering and you’re good to go! )

Attached Belts are also from thrift stores. I just found riveted ones and attached them all in line. (funny thing is i can actually belt this thing all up and it would serve as an actual straight jacket! lol. +1!

**i also have a pair of dirty old tall brown boots too that crane wears in the movie.(not pictured). In the pic i'm just wearing some Hugo Boss dress shoes, witch look much better with the suit version than that "dress". ha! Maybe a nice suitcase to go with the outfit would be fun.
