Re: Muscles Under Hero Suit Verses Not
I don't do too much new stuff anymore guys cus the truth is when you take away the ability to have people find it in search results by not using the word it is used for and thought of and you cut the remaining pie in as many slices as the few who are trying to do fan made costume parts have done in the last few years there, just is just not enough money in it to justify the hard work involved not only in the initial work but in the processing and creation of each piece. A few years back I tried to get Rick to split the sculpting hard work with me by having him do some of the preliminary set up but when he really started thinking about it I think he realized just how much work it can be and we abandoned the idea of doing this in foam or gel specifically for this purpose. The market is too narrow and also too tightly policed. So what's left? Junk and few who try despite all odds. You either have to bend the rules and infringe on trademark things in some way or go broke if you do much more than just to keep your little hobby going. Very few have been as lucky as I have to be around doing this generic stuff I do still even if it is on a minimal level. That's why the main thing I do to have fun in this hobby now is run my board and talk to other people like myself who are into all this. That's the best fun now that I have been there and done that as far as costuming and I am getting to be an old timer.
Thank you for the comments. Jon you look great. Ed I hope to see you there.

Re: Muscles Under Hero Suit Verses Not
But this is the ultimate generic item that you don't need to use the word "Batman" or "Superman" when putting it on ebay. If I was looking for a muscle suit for under spandex I would not use those terms when searching.
And this is certainly a small market but this is also a highly sought after item that nobody is filling the need for. Nobody that I am aware of at least. During my short time on these boards I would have to say it is the most requested item that people never ever end up finding.

absolutely. Plus online stores (I guess I can't name them?) sell such suits for like 300$...

Re: Muscles Under Hero Suit Verses Not
I made a muscle suit combining Foam and the gels. I used foam for the torso and I used those gel thingys for my arms, and let me tell you, when you pick that thing up it's heavy as hell. The chest is fine, but the arms are heavy, look and feel real, but still heavy. I'll post a picture a.s.a.p.

$300 is probably a pretty fair price.

Re: Muscles Under Hero Suit Verses Not
Thanks fellers. I made it myself but just cutting the muscles out of an old foam mattress pad and shaping them with scissors and sewing them to a spandex shirt.
Here you go Colin. The blue rib part on the bottom isn't there anymore, so just ignore that. But that's all it is really.

Re: Muscles Under Hero Suit Verses Not
Jon thats superb just what I'm looking for. I've tried cutting foam with scissors but I tend to get straight edges and I want to make it like yours dome shaped for the chest. What type of scissors did you use and is that foam the type used in furniture :huh

Re: Muscles Under Hero Suit Verses Not
Jon that's great. Great job. As for the need. I know you are right and yes people could find it with out using the name. If was not so bogged down I would indeed jump on it but I just can not afford the time at this time. I am buried. I wish I could. Just for the info, Jon's way is more durable and just as effective if you go to the trouble of doing it that way you will have it forever and it will not cost much. If some one could make those cost effectively in different sizes they would beat out anything I would do, cost wise at least. Maybe someone will.
