Voice/Theatrics in Costume
Just wondering who here does a voice swing or any particular theatrics when in costume. Mine's coming together and hopefully will get finished up this weekend so I'm good to go next week and I'm trying to figure out what all I'm doing. Kind of random, but I figured there's probably a good number here that do so.
Got no problem doing the voice, but he doesn't say a heck of a lot. I'm expecting to see a good number of people that will recognize me at the local midnight screening so the obvious quote to over milk is the 'its not who i am underneath..' but I don't want to sound like a broken record. I guess the best way to go is just use as few words as possible when talking.

Re: Voice/Theatrics in Costume
I don't change my voice unless I'm going to mess around with someone.
Less is more, as Brin said, but also try to have your wits about you. You'll get those jokers around, saying and asking you questions to poke fun at you, so do your best with short but sweet witty comments. Usually works.

Re: Voice/Theatrics in Costume
Whenever I'm in costume, or even just test-fitting a cowl, I always use a different voice, sort of a raspy Keaton/Dirty Harry thing. It helps get me in character, as well as separating myself and the character. And I give short, clipped answers to questions. My most common phrase is probably "I'm Batman."

Re: Voice/Theatrics in Costume
what about those of us that aren't inherently witty?
"Hey, BATmaaan- are you wearing a rubber ass to cover up your real on or is your real one that big?"
"...I'm BATMAN."
now, that just sounds CRAZY.
and even if there was a slight pause before you said something witty in respose, it would SOUND like you were gathering up something witty to say, instead of just saying something witty.
i think, with the joker persona, you can just say something like; "HowW aBOut wE cUTcha up INta li'l PIEces and FEEd yA to SoME dOGs?! HAahAhAHAhaAhahaHAHaHa!!"
granted, you might get arrested if you don't book if they don't laugh, but at least they won't know who to look for :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin

Re: Voice/Theatrics in Costume
i can do the begins style voice pretty perfect, and i enjoy doing it for people. My friends said they dont even recognize me in costume, and when i do the voice with it. Just makes you seem so much realier.

That was two separate comments. Let me rephrase:
1) I give short, clipped answers to questions.
2) When I feel like I have to say something spontaneously, "I'm Batman" is what usually comes out.
