Auditory Issues With Cowl

Has anyone resolved this issue as we are half deaf in costume and everyone is SCREAMING in our ears to converse? (thank heavens the latex helped to seal the high pitch)

cheers

Get a looser cowl, airflow will allow acoustic transmission. It'll be directiona, i.e. "talk to my face!" but it'll help. The airtight seal most tighter cowls create around your ears and face is what kills your hearing ability. I am working on a simple radio-shack cowl-ear mic and mini-speaker right now... I'll be able to do more after I move next week!

I've heard of people using some of those hearing aids that hunters use.

It's especially tough when dealing with children. You can only ask them so many times what they said. I believe the hunting hearing aids help, and I have someone with me when I do a kid visit. She acts as my "Press Rep" and helps with the hearing stuff.

could you poke pin holes into the cowl where your ears are. if you make them big enough for air flow you should be able to hear a little bit better.

Thought about this one myself....but, I wonder if that would mess with the structural integrity of the cowl?

Batman doesn't need to hear criminals try to explain themselves to save their asses.
thus less hearing. emoticon emoticon
