Foamies Batman Begins, begins.. PICS pg 1,2, 8
Hiii. :) Lemme first briefly introduce myself. My name is Ron 25 y/o, and I’ve sort of been a lurker here hiding in the shadows for that past 4 years since I’ve been registered with these forums. Years ago I had plans on putting together a suit, but had so many others projects going at the time that I didn’t have enough time nor the motivation to finish such an overwhelming project. With the release of Batman Begins, I instead opted for a simpler project, a Scarecrow suit.
(..more on this in another thread)
Anyways getting to the point of this thread, with the recent release of The Dark Knight and with inspiration from another brother here I met at comic con (indankin), plans for a begins suit began to take shape with the more recent hype of FOAMIES!
With such talent and ideas from all of you brothers, (archytextural, Indiana Batman, Bat Texan, just to name drop a few) I think we are all really pushing the boundaries to what you can actually do with such an open celled material like foamies.
Here’s a teaser pic of things to come:
(Yes, all of it besides the speaker wire and vinyl tubing is FOAMIES, heated and stretched.)
With that in mind, onto the project! Let’s start with the cowl. (Update: using J****style cowl now)
This is my quickie attempt at a V.2 Rubies Begins Cowl, fully converted from the tutorial in the archives.
Before: (ew..)
AFTER:
(that’s actually not me in the cowl, it’s AZspidey. :) thanks again for the pics ha.)
Doesn’t look too bad, yea? Can’t beat 29.99 with a batstick. May still need to rework the upper portion of the cowl where it meets the ears, but you get the idea..
Any questions feel free to ask. Pleanty more to come, stay tuned...

I love that scarecrow mask. If you decide to part with it, let me know. I would love to take it off your hands.

That looks great machina28!
I'd love to read how you got the dimensions out of those foamies. Most noticeable is the ab section, but I'm also curious as to how you got the smooth shape of the chest. I'm gonna take a whack at a foamies project soon and I've not yet dabbled with heating them up yet. On a side not, I did heat a foam cup up at work and found that it became very pliable until it cooled and became rigid. It was pretty cool.
