I need a few things for the palm of my '89s. I plan on getting suede, Silver colored brads, and velcro. I will cut the pins of the brads off, and glue them to suede. Then you glue the suede palm, with the triangular patterns, and glue to the glove. The velcro is to attach the glove and forearm together :up Then I need dowels, real leather, fins, and armor lolnondisclosed_email@example.com (doesitcomeinblack101)Sun, 11 Jan 2009 14:04:11 +0000 Re: '89 Glove Tutorial (Update- Finished Ribbing) See first posthttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139466,from=rss#post2139466https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139466,from=rss#post2139466Go to a hobby shop much easier to get what you neednondisclosed_email@example.com (DarkKnightDaveyo)Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:58:42 +0000 Re: '89 Glove Tutorial (Update- Finished Ribbing) See first posthttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139464,from=rss#post2139464https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139464,from=rss#post2139464Those look great! I made the ribbing on the Panthers the same way only using plastic dowel rods and a heat gun to bend them to the desired shape. Yes all in all both sets of gloves were very economical to make! I actually did make some panthers from scratch for a brother on here. nondisclosed_email@example.com (DarkKnightDaveyo)Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:54:14 +0000 Re: '89 Glove Tutorial (Update- Finished Ribbing) See first posthttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139461,from=rss#post2139461https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139461,from=rss#post2139461WOW!!!! I will redo mine someday, using real leather, and your method. How thick were your dowels? Could I do that, and just press it into silicone, creating a negative mold, and cast in urethane, or latex? Thanks!nondisclosed_email@example.com (doesitcomeinblack101)Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:49:28 +0000 Re: '89 Glove Tutorial (Update- Finished Ribbing) See first posthttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139457,from=rss#post2139457https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139457,from=rss#post2139457A suggestion for the ribbing I used some wooden dowel rods about 12" long set them all side by side the hot glued them together from the back. Added a handle t them from the back as well with hot glue. Lay out your clay and press them into it and carefully lift it out. It will give you 1 piece of ribbing with as many ribs as you have glued together. it's a much cleaner look when glued to the glove and much easier to work with as well as far as covering up any seams on the glove. nondisclosed_email@example.com (DarkKnightDaveyo)Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:44:39 +0000 Re: '89 Glove Tutorial (Update- Finished Ribbing) See first posthttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139298,from=rss#post2139298https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2139298,from=rss#post2139298Bump, for finished ribbing. It needs to be loose enough to allow your hand to slide through the wrist area. Next, I measured the circumference of my forearm, and added about two inches to it, so it won’t be really tight around my forearm. The last measurement is the length of my forearm, all the way to the wrist. I basically connected the points. Your pattern should look like this:   Once you get that done, I cut it traced it out on the back (Nylon; you can easily see your pen) with pen. I used Marine Vinyl Pleather that I found at Joann’s for 10$ a yard. I then cut the pattern with scissors. When I am done cutting, I pinned it about a centimeter in like so:    I then sewed it with a simple straight stitch. (Well I didn’t but my mom did) It should look like this: Here is where you should be at now The last thing I did was attach Velcro on to the inside of the forearm where your wrist is, and the outside of the gloves wrist. On the gloves wrist, you need to cut it appropriately so that the Velcro opening and closing on the glove still works. Note: one thing you might want to do on the glove is there is a small opening on the glove right above the Velcro; if you want, you can sew this together. Pic of hole: (think of golf glove) Palm Modding: • Silver Brads • Wirecutters • Superglue • Suede First, I drew out a pattern, identical to the shape of the palm on your gloves on suede. Now I cut the pattern out. Next I cut the ends off of the brads as close as possible to the head. Glue the brads with this pattern. Start from the bottom up. 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 in a triangle. Once glued, glue the entire thing on the palm of the glove. The Ribbing: Materials: • Paul (Artsee1) ribbing • Superglue • Scissors For the ribbing, I first cut it to the appropriate size for my wrist, and superglued it to the wrist of the forerm. Now you should have the illusion of leather ribbing on the wrist, just like the real ones. Instead of using the kit, I will mold straws :lol I'll cast in latex. I will cut the excess ribs. Here's what My latex rib looks like, untrimmed Done, Other then palm and fins! Fins: Materials: • ’89 fins ( I use Luda’s) • Superglue • Scissors For the fins, I just cut slits in the side of the appropriate length and width of the fins ( I am using Luda’s) and put superglue on the base of the fins, and putting it in the forearm; super-gluing it in the inside. A lot of this stuff I haven't done yet. Anything after sewing the pleather I have not done yet. I will get pics as I go nondisclosed_email@example.com (doesitcomeinblack101)Thu, 01 Jan 2009 18:02:37 +0000
