the texture of the backpack doesn't really indicate that. I didn't buy the movie yet, but isn't there some good shots in the special features, to get a clearer idea of its shape and function?

There are good shots of the whole suit in the special features, but what I meant was we only get to see the cape explode out of the pace once in the movies. Originally they planned to have the cape retract when Bale rode the bat-pod (for fear of his cape getting caught in the back tire). But when they saw how great to cape looked out while riding they left it as is. Thus, we may never know exactly how the cape/backpack worked.

I think I'm willing to bet that we might see it in B3. Maybe just a little, but it could be there. Speaking of which, I hope they keep the current batsuit, for A, breaking away from the "norm" of the batman films and suits, and B, I'm not looking forward to the money costs for making a new whole suit, even though I will :wink

Here is something Mattel showed at Toyfair 09. Its not accurate by any stretch of the imagination, but its a nice effort. I'd really like to see this thing spring open. if placed underneath another cape, it could creatte a cool effect!

I thought the memory fabric was used to form the "backpack". Isn't the pack just another shape the cape is capable of making when the particles are charged and align?

IF you watch the special features that is what it is supposed to be, that the cape folded into that shape. They were going to use the backpack when he was on the batpod to keep the cape out of the way. But they found when testing the pod it wasn't a problem, and they liked the effect of the cape blowing so they didn't use that backpack idea (for those scenes anyway)

I've seen those on clearance recently. Like $25 down from $50. Still too expensive.
