HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
Hey all....I used some loctite superglue gel to adhere my cape/ cowl rings, and by accident, got some on the outside of my urethane cowl. :grumble
I've tried paint thinner, rubbing alcohol...to no avail. scratching it off damages the urethane.....sadly already experienced a bit of that. :doh
Anyone have experience w/ this ?? Any advice ?? :pray

Re: HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
Some hobby stores have a "super glue remover". There's a chemical name for it, which I couldn't possibly remember.
It's similar to acetone, but far less destructive.
DON'T use acetone though. It's pretty damaging to all these rubbers.

Boy... Déjà vu :lol
I would think it's not going to destroy it, like acetone would, but it may alter the surface sheen a bit.
How much glue did you get on it.

Re: HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
Not a TON of glue on there. Just a few spots. Not really all that bothersome. Just thought I'd see if anyone had a solution. I may try nail polish remover with a q tip. I know pure acetone will mess the urethane up.
If that don't work, I'll either leave it alone, or check out my hobby shop.

Re: HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
Definitely check out the hobby shop. When I bought some Miracle Glue a couple years back I do remember they had a remover available as well. But I couldn't get it shipped into Canada.
Either way be sure to test whatever you use on the inside of your cowl first.

Re: HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
Acetone of any kind will potentially weaken your urethane. But its really the only effective way to remove sg from your urethane. Since its only a small surface matter and not a tug and pull matter, a little super glue remover (which has acetone, you can smell it), rub some on with a q-tip, then hope it all comes off. I also used light sand paper in the area. LIGHT sandpaper. lol. Heavy grit will ruin the finish on your cowl. But im assuming these are small parts of your cowl, yes? If so, some remover and light sanding paper, should do the trick. I had to do the same on my 89 suit.

Re: HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
Thanks Nar, and everyone for all the suggestions.
I ended up using nailpolish remover. Figured it'd be slightly less abrasive than pure acetone. Used a q-tip and lightly dabbed at it, wiped away, and repeated. Eventually, it did come off, but the finish of the cowl in those spots was dulled slightly. Only noticeable in some certain light.

Re: HELP REMOVING SUPERGLUE GEL !!!!!
You could try using the flat/non-shiny spray version of Armor All, to once again make the entire cowl have the same sheen to it.
Most cowls desire the non-shiny look to them. Some folks like to make their Panthers look like glass though.
