Re: New Bat Cowl Sculpt! with Pics!
I like the direction you have going here!
I would humbly suggest that the opening for the face goes back a bit farther than I think it should.
But, understanding that you are going for the stretched/angular look, maybe you could keep the top line of the opening going back that far, but make a sharp angle return back before the more gentle slope of the opening that would echo some of the sharper angles you have already put into place, something like this:
(The blue is the sculpted cowl, just FYI.)
Overall, though, I'm digging it! Nice start, and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

Great looking cowl so far man!
The only thing I would suggest is to rethink how your doing the eyebrows. I googled hong kong bats just to get a feel for what you were going for...
I think if you bring the brows out a bit more, it would work better with the ears and nose.
seriously tho, those ears are gonna look sick! Ive always been a big fan of long eared cowls.

Yeah Will I was considering redoing the brows to match the Hong Kong cowl. I was trying to take them in another direction, but maybe you're right that they would look better.

Well I don't think it's THAT bad dude lol. Perhaps a bit bird like, but I am happy with how it looks. I may slim the nose down a bit but I want to keep the angle and shape as is. I agree with pushing the cheek bones back. This is going to be a neck turn cowl, but I may sculpt a separate neck piece to go with it. I haven't decided yet.
Oh, dont take it the wrong way, Im not saying its "bad" by no means. Its a good looking sculpt, as I said. And its more than I could pull off.lol Im just seeing more of a "non-Batman" look in it. My personal taste is that the more organics that are put into a Batman cowl, the less it looks like what it should be. At least, to me, it starts to take on a more bird or vampire trait.

I wasn't sure at first, but this cowl is starting to appeal to me. Like Will and Shadow suggested, I think if you pushed the brows more in the direction of the Hong Kong cowl, it would look better IMHO.
Overall, it's a good sculpt, Jon! And I'm am definitely lovin' them long-ass ears!!! :up

Thanks dudes. I am definitely going for a non-traditional look here, and saying it looks vampirish is a good thing in my book cause that's what I'm going for. :up

Thank you will, You answered my question before I asked it.
and the cowl looks good. Symetry needs a lil work, but it looks good, and very close to the original comic.

Re: New Bat Cowl Sculpt! with Pics!
Here's an update on the sculpt. Did some work on the right side of the brow area (left side of the pictures) and worked on slimming down the cheek and jaw region. Let me know if you guys think I'm making progress.

Re: New Bat Cowl Sculpt! with Pics!
I really like how you "blocked" the forehead area more to give it a kind of folded material look and not as much a "skin" look. Still not a fan of the beak, not your sculpt, but that particular art design. The lesser cheek area also makes a real difference. :up :cheers
