Re: Tim Sale Cowl:

Very nice start on the Tim Sale cowl! I'm definitely diggin' the loooong ears, too!

I do tend to agree with needing to beef them up a bit. You might try giving them just a little bit of a triangular cross section, which I think would add a little strength without sacrificing the Tim Sale look. Does that make any sense?

Overall, so far so good---can't wait to see the rest of it!

Small update: (9/18/09) Still very rough.

- Started the neck (amazed at what it does to the perspective of this cowl)

- Refined the brow some. Still not done. (The brow and around the eyes has been the hardest part for me so far)

- Tweaked the ears some. Will be adding some "styled"/modest reinforcement to keep them up when it's cast up in urethane.

PICS!

Yeah, lol. A LOT angrier. The brow is the hardest part for me, but it'll get there.

The lines in the brow in your pic in the opening post had a good Tim Sale feel to it,
and it would make him angier too :batman

I love the Tim Sale work. Probably my favorite. I feel that to catch his style the nose has to be totally flat on top. The inverted triangle nose seems hard to me but if you can do it the result would be amazing. Great work. What size head will this fit?

The nose is completely flat on top. I wanted that part of the cowl 100% accurate. This cowl should fit anywhere between 23.5-24 inch heads. I'll need to take a measurement when it's all done to really know for sure though. I've got a 23.5" head, so it'll definitely fit that.
