PICS: My 89 cowl. Final sculpt, molding and master! PIC HEAVEY!

Its been ages since I posted anything about the 89 cowl but just 1 hour ago I pulled my foam filled latex master out of the mold.

It has a few flaws but hopefully theyre correctable. Next step will be to clean up the lines and defects then remold for my final one piece mold.

Im really happy with how it turned out despite a few bumps along the way, like the loss of my plaster bandage armature (see pics).

All in all Ive learned a lot and cant wait to finish this project and get going on something else to use what I know now. Although next time I wont do a 2 piece plaster mold to make the master if I can help it.

I need to thank a few people here as some members have helped me out and given their time to a novice asking many many MANY questions. I researched everything but when it came to DOING it, well thats a whole other thing.
So,

Uncle Ed, thanks for the long mails about molding.

Shawn for the help with "details" on the sculpt.

PJ for giving me advice on materials and for providing something incredibly important for this sculpt, the texture stamp for the scallops and the back of the head. This thing wouldnt look half as good without that element. And also for the great pics of your own cowl, you and the others who have made great 89s were really an inspiration to me!

Richard, I cant thank you enough for all the emails you sent me time after time about molding this way, I would have been lost once or twice without your advice.

Nar & Eden for the suggestions on the sculpt last time I posted. It helped a lot so thanks guys!
And everyone else for the support.

On to the photos!

It was a great feeling when the back half cracked open, shame the front wasnt so easy to get off!

THIS is all thats left from the armature/sculpt. Im not to sad about losting it, it was far from perfect. The next will be a full stone version or maybe even fiber glass.

LOVING it! You did a hell of a job with this thing. I, for one, would be proud to rock this thing next to my other cowls! If only I had an 89 suit.....

P.S. I posted your stuff priority recently, did you get it? tried to pack it well.... jeez what a shipping rape! :rollin
