Original Batshop fiberglass begins cowl
Hi all,
I dont post much here as much as id but i thought you would like to see this.
recently, after a lot of work, i managed to secure a fiberglass begin cowl cast from teh batshop mould at pinewood.
when i got it, the face had been cut out and it was still in its raw gelcoat and had a few cracks in it so but now it is all cleaned up and looks amazing.
here are some pics.
as i got it
and after its all cleaned up, (its yellow as its the only matt paint i had to hand and it show the detail of the cowl better)

Re: Original Batshop fiberglass begins cowl
Very nice Rich! Is that straight from the mold or molded from a production piece ?
If it's straight from the mold I'm surprised at how un even the sculpt is. It shows some extra detail on the cheeks I haven't seen before.

Re: Original Batshop fiberglass begins cowl
hey bud, its straight from the mould, not cast from a cowl.
when you cast in foam latex, it shrinks so some of the detial is lost. this is exactly how it looked before they made foam cowls.

Re: Original Batshop fiberglass begins cowl
Yeah it's a shame the cheek detail was lost. Was it sculpted unevenly to account for foam shrinkage or did they figure no one would see it? :lol

Re: Original Batshop fiberglass begins cowl
That is the one RD piece I want to have in my collection. Already have the Returns bust. This would be great. Especially because I can feel I am going to start dumping stuff...
Have to go back to school...

Re: Original Batshop fiberglass begins cowl
That's a beaut! Ever consider shrinking it down to a more regular size?
