Wow! As an aspiring Bruce Wayne with a Peter Parker budget, I'm definitely envious of you right now. I can't wait to see more!

A couple more. I am testing some different styles for my switches, intercom, and security system. Looking at Carbon fiber on the switch plate for TDK, Begins basic color styles and motif for the others. Still not sure what it will look like in the end.

Also, I threw up a couple of Marvel posters on one of the poster walls. Still working on some designs but will be posting more soon.

WOW. This is going the whole nine yards. IF there was any way to get some vid when you have your "Grand Opening" that would be excellent. :toocool Naturally, the GO will be in two days, right?

Sadly it won't be in 2 days but things are moving along much quicker. I have some other builds going in there. More pics coming soon.

I thought it was time to post some larger progress pics. As you can tell I finally carpeted the cave as well. I decided on some charcoal carpet over stone so it would be easier to keep clean and level for the shelves and closet.

Here is an initial view of 3 of the Detolf cabinets I will be using to display statues and movie props. When it's all finished I will have 5 in this room.
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

This angle is showing some of the brick hallway leading down to the entrance and other display area. The arch you see and adjacent wall will all be rock with metal bars simulating another cave pocket that has been sealed off.

In that hole is a fairly large storage area I'll be using for things. There will be effects as this goes along you'll see what I mean. More to follow, but I thought I'd show progress so when you see the end result you'll understand better how I arrived at it.
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

Finally, I'm posting a pick of a great poster I got. I love Supes as well and this shot is iconic of him flying over the Earth with the Sun cresting. It's a great poster I haven't seen elsewhere. And unlike many, I liked Routh as Superman. I didn't care for teh movie overall but thought he did a good job.

Hope you enjoyed the progress pics, more coming soon. BTW this room is actually larger than it appears. It always seems to shrink in pictures.

Freaking WOW. I'll quit my job, renounce my religion, and swear allegiance if you'll only send me an RSVP to your Grand Opening. And the stone and brick shot reminds me wayyyyy even more of Wolfenstein 3D for sure.

Top shelf, Bro. Gotta be the best (Bat)man cave ever... save for what Bruce has. emoticon

Re: Creation of the Cave (Updated pics 16 July, page 7)

I've been fairly busy working on some new aspects of the cave build. I just completed the cabinet/diorama combo. The cabinets are for storage of suits such as my UD TDK. The middle section in black is going to be built to resemble a portion of the batcave for my hot toys tumbler display. I'll have it completed with lights etc in a couple of weeks. It would be sooner but I've got a few things to do this summer before it gets cold again.

I added some more depth with rock foam and am working to paint, and layer it further. Much work still to be done but it's getting there and it's a lot of fun to keep sitting down there with a beer and come up with more ideas. And finally I threw in a pic of me looking into my Begins cabinet for the heck of it.

As you can tell the theme has been the Begins style cave as that was my favorite look. So the cabinets are made to work with that motif. Hope you like the updates.

I have pretty much finished the Hot Toys Tumbler and DX-12 Batman display in the cabinets and here are the results. I have a few cosmetic issues to clean up but this is very close to being the finished design. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

One of my military brothers rolled into town last night and for the first time I was able to show off the cave to someone! It was a great time talking about the bat, drinking a beer, inside the batcave! Just why I made this place. He helped me brainstorm some new ideas as well. Always appreciated!

Great Cave.
I don't have a cellar but I do have a large attic - square with the ceiling coming to a point and large wooden beams. It was a dovecote. I have a blank canvas as I have just finished white painting plaster walls and scraping bird poo off the beams.
So it is going to be a Bat-attic but might make it look like a cave.
I have a lot to think about and plan - then there is waiting to save the money for each bit I need to work on!

I've been building in the cave and have been working on a custom desk. There are a few special tricks and batman style surprises left to showcase as the project progresses. But for now, I thought I'd reveal the current state of the 10 ft desk space. Hope you enjoy it. Again, my style is inspired by the Begins film with much of it coming from asian influences with some custom features.

Re: Building The Batcave (Updated pics 15 March 2014 page 8)

Ok, I have completed the desk build. This desk is pretty huge. 65" across in the middle section and 48" on either side. So basically 13 feet of desktop. I wanted enough desk space for a 6 monitor array which you can see the mount for in the pictures. I'm currently building the computer worthy of the batcave, it's going to be a beast!

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

Here I made a secret compartment in the top of the desk. I used door cylinders to hold it open and control the soft close. There is a button on the cylinder you press to keep the door open at whatever angle you wish and just lift slightly to release and allow it to close slowly. As you can see there is a section that I've installed tool foam for a secondary armory. Batarangs, mini mines, [sign in to see URL] be added soon.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

This picture shows a better view of the secret compartment and lighting. I used an led tape light strip for an easy, low profile design. The lights are controlled with a small remote for different effects, or a switch that turns the lights on when the desk top is opened. I thought both options would give me more flexibility.
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

An overall view of the desk. I built two display cabinets below the drawers. While it's hard to make out in the pictures, there is plexiglass covering both display areas. I didn't want dust to be an issue. I have my Hot Toys Tumbler and Dark Knight in the one as you can see, a Hulk/Spiderman diorama is in the other. For the Hulk/Spidey, I built a homemade turntable that slowly rotates when the lights are turned on. (It's a grill rotisserie motor mounted under a wooden box.) :wink This statue was too cool to only be able to view one side.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

The last two pictures are just different angles and one showing the cabinets I built at the end of the hall. You can faintly make out that I replaced the Tumbler with the Hot Toys Bat Pod and Catwoman figure. Hope you enjoyed the updates. More things to come as this cave build progresses. I've got some interesting ideas on the table. I need to get this computer built and installed. Can't wait to sit down here six monitors wide!
