Newish Member needing help!

Hey guys. I've been on here for quite a while, but never actually posted. Stoked to see people as obsessed as I am! I've had a huge fascination for Batman for as long as I can remember. I'm now starting to put together a long overdue 89 suit. I've currently got most of the pieces from an eBay auction. I've got one of Reeve's older sculpts for a cowl, which I'm pretty happy with, but I have a fairly long neck, so I may need to replace it eventually so it "sits" on my shoulders better. I've got chest armour, legs armour, knee caps, forearm guards, shin guards, and some half-assed gloves.

I'm in the process of getting a lycra undersuit to mount everything to. I'm in Vancouver, Canada, so I'm having a hard time finding what I need. I had hoped to make my own cape to save money, but somehow I'm finding it very hard to find some simple fabric to do a full 8-panel cape. I know of a distributor of the Monster Makers Bat Black latex, but it's going to cost quite a bit for the 5 gallon! (everything is more expensive in Canada). I'm still in need of boots, and proper gloves.

A big help would come from having access to the Trading Area. How do I go about doing that? Here are a couple pics of my cowl.

Regarding the undersuit- I've read a lot of threads on here that recommend using black Under Armour Heatgear (or an off-brand equivalent) shirt and leggings. I'm working on an 89 as well and it seems like it's going to do nicely.

The undersuit in the movie was one-piece, but it seems as though the belt will do nicely to hide the break between upper and lower pieces.

As for an easy cape solution, this saves a lot of time:

Search online for a linen tablecloth supply store (there's a number of them). For between $10 and $20, you can get a full circle lightweight black polyester tablecloth and cut scallops and neck hole into that (still got to latex it, but it'll save a lot of sewing, cutting, measuring, and is a very cheap way to get all the fabric you need to do it!

I haven't tried this yet for a latex cape, but the polyester should be fine for latex (anybody want to weigh in on that?) I have made a full 3/4 circumference cape out of a tablecloth I ordered and was kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner. I actually ordered one polyester, and a satin one to line it with.

Just my 2 cents

as already said welcome to the club. Its nice to see even the newer members going for the older 89 suit. Shows a true classic never goes out of fashion. :up

I'm gonna have to do some more searching online. I've looked in lots of local stores and haven't had much luck for the odds and sodds I need. Sorry to be dumb, but I'm still unclear on how to access the Trading Section??

Welcome to the forum emoticon
Once you get 50 posts, you'll be able to go to the trading section. Head to the Lobby, and you'll see a thread "get access here" (or something like that) Just be sure to read the instructions, and you'll be fine.
