 :flapbat

I would have attended this year, but too many things are happening in my life at the moment. I had job upheavals, and am looking for new, professional work. Money is therefore an issue. But I hope to be there in 2012!!

Glad you had fun!

What time did you get there today? They show on their website, that the first "event" is at 10:00 each day. But I assume they let people in way earlier than that, to shop and spend money.

If we planned on getting there around 8:45 to 9, do you think that's early enough or should we get there earlier, to avoid lines and crowds?

Not sure, as we had gotten there later than anticipated..(I just posted on FB) Anyway..get there early because the line is long to get in..it moves fast, but long nevertheless. I am still aglow..just a feel good fun day. Got some great deals on comics and got some of the DC new 52 no. 1's I didn't get before as well as a few old Catwoman issues I had yet to purchase for $1.00!!

Re: Anyone else going to New York Comic Con?

Oh man I had a great time! It was awesome to get there on Thursday with my four-day pass and get to have a day where there were less people around. Friday was also really awesome, except for the three or more block long line to get into the thing (doors didn't open until ten and I got into the line at 9:20, so I was fairly late). But Friday I got to see some good panels and see more great art and displays.

Yesterday (Saturday) however, is a different story. Got there really late because my girlfriend wanted to go to Ellis Island, which was fine because she's not a comic-book person and I wanted her to see things in the city she wanted to see. ANYWAY, we got there and thought we'd still get a chance to get in line for the Avengers panel. HA! At about 3:30 (mind you, the panel was at 6:30) in the afternoon, there was a mob....not a line...a mob...to get into the IGN theater. While everyone milled around confused and angry, someone FINALLY came with a megaphone and told us the IGN theater was full for the rest of the day. So that ticked me off.

So I decided I'd try to find some folks around from our boards here. Teresa had already told me Bob was around, and he was the first person I bumped in to. But...man...the PEOPLE in that place, it was unreal. It took me a half-hour or so texting back and forth to locate Teresa, and we probably walked by each other five times and didn't realize it because we couldn't see anyone through the crowds.

I think that, if I ever do this New York City con again, I'd invest in the VIP passes so that I know I can get into the panels I want to see. But the crowds yesterday may have been enough to keep me away from this particular con.

And so my first Con experience ends up being mixed. Still, I did have some fun, and I would be more than happy to find some smaller cons to visit.

Loved this guy! And yes, I got a hug! LOL!
Image

Joker and Harley. Saw lots of great Joker and Harley's..these were two of my faves.
Image

This just gave me chills when I saw it....such a great day!

Image

Tim Sale...I just watched him sketch...so cool!
Image

Dustin Nguyen talked to him a bit..super nice guy.
Image

The Adam West Batmobile- Got a fun pic with it, but have to scan..very very cool ride!

Image

The 89 Batmobile- Love this one..got another cool pic with this too. My daughter was laughing at how excited I was! :)

Image

Finally found Bob...he looked so great in his costume and just as I thought, just a great guy! So much fun watching him interact with the crowd.

And..my most fangirly and exciting part of my day...I am friends with Greg Capullo's sister, and she was kind enough to introduce me to him, and Scott Snyder was heading to do a panel, so I got to take a quick pic with them both.

I also got to meet Chris Burnham, and he autographed my copies of his Batman incorporated comic covers..we talked about drawing, and what goes into making a book, the time, the work, he was gracious and we watched him do a sketch for a fan.

Like I said before, it was a super fun, exciting day..I didn't know what to look at first, so many costumes, and fun things to see. The smile on my daughter's boyfriend's face was priceless as he saw some of his favorite characters from The Doctors walking around and his score of $1.00 and $.50 comics that he wanted to get.

I would definitely go again, and hope to maybe next year dress up as well. emoticon

Sounds like everyone had a better time than I did. Oh well life goes on. LOL

My luck was bad there was a line for every thing and I couldn't even find a good Batman hat.

We just got back from taking just the boy in.

Holy good God almighty, the crowds.

This year was SO bad. I mean, WOW!!!!!

Mark Hamill was charging $100.00 for an autograph and $125.00 for a photo with him. We did neither. Screw you Skywalker.

My wife, on the other hand... She got all close and snuggly with Jason Mamoa, as he signed her "Khaleesi" shirt. His man smell made her soft and subtle. So she's got that goin' for her.

The boy had fun though. Especially since it was just Mom & Dad and him. And he was allowed to play Arkham City and Assassins Creed Revelations.

We probably will not be attending Jacob Javitz next year. For some reason, the crowds were just about intolerable this year.
