Classic comic batman Belt (costume to follow)

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

I'm working on a Batman costume for halloween, I've not got much time and I'm reluctant to spent large sums of money.
I bought a batman belt buckle off of Amazon and a yellow leather belt from a local leather taylor. The pouches came from a cheap batman belt made of PVC from a fancy dress shop. I cut the pouches off the rubber belt and cut slots in the sides of each pouch then slid them onto the leather belt.

I bought a sheet of black felt with a sticky back from Hobby Craft and cut out a bat symbol which I plan to attach to the chest of the costume. But I'm having second thoughts, it might look better if I use black pleather instead.

Thanks for the compliment, I know it's not perfect but it's a start. The pouches let it down but I plan to make some pouches out of yellow leather using a pattern I found on [sign in to see URL]

Nice start. Hope you reach your goal by the end of the month. Shape of bat emblem is sharp. I second the pleather option is time permits.

If you can get the pleather, use it. And that is a good comic style belt too. I personally like the pouches. Maybe just panit the snaps black. (See, I said what everyone else said, just in a different way).

This is a morph suit I bought off ebay to use for my bat costume, I'll be cutting the head off but leaving the hands and feet, I figure they stop the suit from riding up. The colour is metalic and slightly lighter than I had hoped but it'll do.

Since the zipper goes all the way up the back of head I've decide it might be best to cut out the face and leave the actual head piece... might help to gather sweat too. Actually I got this idea from Bob Kiefer. Thanks!

Cut a face hole in the hood! damn that's a good idea, wish I'd thought of it before I'd handed my morph suit to a seamstress to cut the hood off. Oh well.

Is she going to replace the zippered portion since it continues into the head? How much is that running you? ANd do you have any more pics you could share of the suit with you in it.. to better gauge color, etc.

Yes she'll simply recrimp the zip at the neck, I don't know how it's done but she says it's easy. It's gonna cost £10 which is nearly as much as I paid or the suit. I've got a pic of me in the suit I'll upload in a bit.

The color is great on it. Very stoked to get mine. Read up on shortening zippers from the top down. Very easy actually. And spandex doesn't really fray whatsoever so not much finishing work will be needed if I did decided to take the head off completely.

Cheers!

Hi, these are the boots I chose for my batman costume. They're rubber wellingtons (sorry I don't know what American's call them) made by toggi and they have a soft gortex linning, I bought them from a farm shop called countrywide. They're a nice tight fit and were a fairly reasonable price.
I was thinking of cutting the tops so they have the trade mark slope. Has anyone else done this?

I would go ahead and give them that slope. I've seen several different guys on here (and some online videos) do the same.

those rubber boots are nicely [sign in to see URL] ones we have over here have very wide openings, hence the need to make it smaller so it doesnt flip flop around when utilized for costumes. ..looking good.

Those look very similar to the hero 100 boots I have without the slope. An easy fix is to trim the top down into the slope shape, then just use a black Sharpie to color in the cut edge if it is not black after you trim it.

Once the hard plastic ears were fixed into the rubber cowl I then filled them with expanding foam. hopefully they'll stay solid.
