Bigbat23's Neal Adams inspired costume.
Well bros and sis its time to start on this years suit build. While I was pleased with last years suit, there are some things I wanted to fix. This thread is being started to keep you all updated on my wip. First I thought I'd start with the musle suit. Its not meant to bulk me up so much but is meant to just add some definition. I'm kinda going for the Neal Adams look so keep that in mind and tell me what you think. Okay so the plan for this muscle suit is for it to fit like a tactical vest. I am using headliner foam.
it's about 1/4 inch thick with a fabric backing. I figure it should be easier to attach the foam muscle pieces to foam itself.
This is the front
Next I gatherd some courage and started carving
some of the muslces out of 1 inch thick foam. I really
thought this was gonna be hard for me to do but it
turned out to be fairly easy to do. Here is what I've
done so far.
This is my first experience with carving foam so I'm learning as I go. Now I think I need to get the pieces a bit smoother. I think I rememer reading awhile back to freeze then sand them? Anyone know what grit of sandpaper I should use? Also do I soak them first then fteeze? Well thats all for now.

Looks like it's coming along nicely.

Looking really good Buddy, keep up the great work. I do believe you get it wet first then freeze. I would use a 220 grit and then finer, I'd be concerned if you when any rougher than 220 as the ice starts to thaw it might want to tear at the foam. Good luck. :up

Real nice start to this WIP. Your carving has a great symmetry. Updates will be welcomed. :guitar

That is looking great so far. Can you tell me, what is headliner foam, and where did you get it? Also, how did you carve those shapes?
